View Full Version : Directions for Chattanooga Meet...
I was going to post some directions on how to get to the meeting site, but our stupid slow/old Win98 doesn't want to open the doc file, so I will have to fiddle with it some to see if I can get it to open. In the mean time, please post if you are thinking of attending, so I can get a head/car count going. Also everyone through out some ideals about what you'll would like to do. I know the slick track go-carts are a must, maybe the Lookouts baseball game Sat night or Sunday afternoon, plus how about another cookout up at the same place as last year?

I am planning on coming up from Montgomery.
Could someone split a hotel room with me?

Hey Gang,
Hope everyone is doing well! Tim I got your message about the meeting so I sure do appreciate the invite. Unfortunately I know longer have the SC. I sold it about 3 months ago and bought a 2000 Mustang. So I think if I was to so up I would be out of place. Hope you have a great time though.

Here's a photo of me launching last weekend running a 13.27. Check my slick's sidewalls.
From West of Chattanooga using I 24E.
Follow I-24E around the outskirt of Chattanooga until the I-24/ I-75 split. The left and middle lanes of I-24E exit to I-75 N, while the middle and right lane exit to I-75 S. Take the I-75 N exit and continue up I 75 N for about 4 miles. The entrance ramp from East Brainerd Rd onto I-75N along with the right most lane on I 75 N will make the 2 exit lanes for I-153, be careful because of the construction the left or right lane for the actually entrance ramp may be closed. Also be careful of traffic from E. Brainerd Rd merging onto I-75 N. I-153 will loop back over both ways of I-75 and the exit needed will be the very 1st one, Lee Highway exit, which will be just a very short distance after crossing over I-75. At the top of the exit at the red light, turn left and cross over I-153 and the old Home Depot center will be on the left. There are two entrances into this area for traffic turning left, first will be not at a light but the more direct route into the center and the next will be at a red light, but more towards the side of the area. If you go past Taco Bell which will be on you left or a Sam’s Club which will be on your right, you have gone too far.
From South of Chattanooga using I-75 N.
As you approach the I-24/I-75 split be in the 2 right lanes, as the 2 left lanes will go I-24 W while the 2 right lanes are I75 N. Continue up I-75 N for about 4 miles after the I-24/ I-75 split. From North of Chattanooga using I-75 S.
Coming down I -75 S, be careful as between Mile 11 and Mile 7 they are doing some construction. After you come out of the construction, you will pass the Shallowford Road exit, then Hamilton Place mall on your left. As you pass by the mall, the I-153 N exit will be shortly to your right. The 2 right lanes will be the lanes for the exit. The exit needed off of I-153 N will be the very 1st one, Lee Highway exit, which will be just a very short distance after exiting onto I-153 N. At the top of the exit at the red light, turn left and cross over I-153 and the old Home Depot center will be on the left. guys
I spoke with Robert and Brad, the two that came down with my dad and me to the Atlanta Car show. Robert said his son's birthday party was Saturday afternoon, but might beable to meet later Saturday or Sunday. Brad will meet us there at the old Home Depot site. I also spoke with Jason and he said he will meet us there also.
What time do we want to look at meeting? Does 10 AM work or that getting too late? I figure meet at 10 and then BS for about 1-2 hrs then lunch :). After that, I don't know, so everyone coming through out some things that might want to do and lets figure it out.
There's the Chattanooga Lookouts AA baseball team, with the Famous Chicken there Saturday night, but nothing going on Sunday night. There's that big ol fish tank downtown, but you can't bring your rod/reel. There's our sorry dragstrip. We can cookout again up on Racoon Mountain, like last year.

And let's not forget Mr. Goonies. I don't know how my hands will hold up to those itty bitty steering wheels though. I will probably want to make a quick stop at Marietta Ford if Jerry is there with the dyno session, maybe take an extra 30 mins. I have some questions about his dyno tune on my car. So, 10 to 10:30 would be good for me. Robert Dennenberg will be following me up.

I'll be there as well. If I come up by myself, I'll probably be up for splitting that hotel room. Granted, I havent asked my dad if he wants to come or not though. Im up for the cookout Tim, I thought that was one of the highlights last year myself. As far as local landmarks/attractions, theres Rock City, Ruby Falls, Terminal Station (aka Choo Choo Hotel), the Aquarium, Tennessee Valley RR Museum, Nickajack Lake, and probably some more to choose from as well.

I'll be there for both days, and my girlfriend is tagging along as well. I'll plan on being there at 10.
The baseball game sounds like a good idea, and Racoon mountian and the cookout sounds good too. Go Karts are a must! Maybe we should try the bumper boats too. Anyone feel like getting wet?!
I'd be up for the aquarium.
I could pass on Rock City, though. 'Twas fun, but I wasn't really highly impressed.
Perhaps we could go to Chickamauga Battlefield...they have a 7 mile self guided auto tour. Or we could ride the incline RR.
The lake would be good too.

What? Your not impressed by a big pile of rocks, moonshine making plastic gnomes, and neon-painted coral hot-glued to the ceiling of the caves? Wow what a party pooper you are!
I guess that little trickle of water they call Ruby Falls is out too, LOL!

Last time I went to Ruby Falls I caught a bad cold so it's out. And the falls ain't even ruby 'cept fer that bright red spotlight. They don't even tell you that till you're already there, what a gyp. I agree, too about Rock City. It's only good once every 20 years or so. Who's in for Sticky Fingers for Saturday lunch? Alright, don't everybody shout at once!
'Homer Voice'
mmmm, Sticky Fingers, mmmmmmmm
'Homer Voice off'
Also we have 2 new BBQ joints there by the mall: Famous Daves and Smokey Bones.
About the Battlefield, they might be having a re-enactment around Labor Day. I remember hearing something on Talk Radio about one coming up, and I think they said Labor Day weekend. Who knows, I also thought that the Lookouts were having fireworks on Saturday.
