I want to replace hg. Do I have to replace the bolts and is the job easy. The motor will be out when I do this.

When doing the oil pan with the black gasket stuff. Should I just put it on and bolt it up or do you have to form a gasket before install pan. Also should I put the gasket seal on that oil pan seal.

I have to also replace the intake gaskets.

I am replacing these gaskets because the motor is out. Anything eles I should do while the motor is out and help or tips on the above typed, would be great. Thanks

You can get head studs from summit racing 1-800-230-3030
Get the ones for a chevy ,part number ARP 233-4003 $75.39
plus shipping. This is for hex nuts. They fit perfect. And
yes you should replace the head bolts.

My manual says not to put the sealer on the back rubber gasket.
How I like to use any gasket sealer. Is to put it on all around the
bolt holes, this will seal up under the bolt heads.Put the sealer on
Then put the oil pan on.Then tightin the bolt all most all the way.
(One turn before tight.)
Then wait a few minutes. Then torque the bolts the rest of the way
down.If you let the sealer set for a little bit it will make a better
rubber gasket like seal.

GOOD LUCK RANDY

Ok I will get new studs.

If I put the sealer on like you said, and then install the oil pan. Should I turn the bolts by hand. Then let the seal sit over night, and then torque them. Also should I add a 1/8 bead of sealer or put it on by hand, scraper ect. Should I put the sealer on motor side and oil pan side. I am asking so many questions because once the motor is installed. Its a bigger job to do the oil pan gasket. I am one to know because I paid $450 to get it done LOL!

ShawnSC1, I just put the sealer on .Tighten the bolts to
about 1/2 turn less that torque spec. Then I wait 10 to 15 minutes
and torque to spec.

Yes motor mounts is a good idea to replace now.

When you are putting the top end back together.
Buy 8 to 10 3/8 and couple 1/2 hose clamp,& get
some plastic wrap ties, black. And put a clamp on
the ends of every vacumm line,PCV line. And plastic
ties on the lines that have small nipples.

I will have new motor mounts installed.

Good idea with the ties. I will do that. I will give that a try with the sealer.
