New magazine out with SC article in it.

Hemmings Musclecar magazine hit the news stands last week with its premier issue. Paul with BlueTongue Motorsports is featured in an article on dyno tuning a basically stock SC to get 90 more hp. It's a very nice and informative article. Also covered was the national Cougar Club. It look likes it'll be a great magazine in the Hemmings tradition. A friend at the drag strip saturday had a copy and let me look thru it.

I'm going to be hoping it's avalable in Canada. This happing is not going to be good since it's hard to just get Hemmings. So maybe one of you guys can scan it and send it to use up in Canada Eh?

Thanks Jason

A subscription to the magazine is $12 US per year, not only a bargain, but certainly cheap enough for even broke college kids to afford. Being that this is a new magazine and the introductory price is so inexpensive, I personally would appreciate it if everyone would support the magazine rather than scan and post or mail the article. I am in continuing contact with Ray Bohatcz, the article writer and expect to do future (not neccesarily my vehicle) SC articles with him. If anyone has trouble locating the magazine in their area, I would be happy to help them find a copy or get a subscription. Subscriptions may be purchased at the following link:

I just picked up a copy myself at a Border's book store Friday. If the physical size of this magazine (its much wider than a standard bookshelf magazine) or fact that ALL articles are done with color photos isnt enough for you to subscribe, I would hope that proposed continued coverage of the SC in future issues will be.

I've heard that name before!!!

RAY BOHATCZ!

Does he not own a engine coatings business? He has a Meta-lax machine?

The secret to your hidden Hp?

I've heard the name when I was thinking of getting a 4th gen V-6 F-body. He's done alot of work for LT-1's.....

No, Ray does not own an engine coating business to my knowledge. He is a fuel injection specialist and free lance writer for about 12 different magazines. He also teaches fuel injection classes. I am interested though in the company you are referring to, where can I find more info? Also, what hidden HP are you referring to?

Julian, I really havent been impressed with any magazines as of lately aside from the one mentioned here. Actually, I do like Drag Racing Action magazine, but it isnt geared toward any car as much as it is toward the actual scene, so I see it differently. My view is simple, if I am going to spend the cover price or a subscription price for a magazine, I expect to see something new and of interest to ME when the next issue arrives. I havent seen that as of late, at least not in the domestic market. Combine that with being a fan of old technology (I have a carbed 350 Camaro naturally aspirated, fully street legal and passing emissions and running high 9s in the quarter) as well as new (like the Ultima GTR in the pic) and Muscle Motors is about the only thing that fits the bill. I think mags like MM&FF, car craft etc. have gotten to far away from originality and its will become their demise. I have always been a "I built it" or "I had this made" type of guy when permissable instead of saying "me to". Seeing what someone else has and having the same thing just doesnt float well with me (unless of course I was the pioneer). Hence why I drive an SC as my daily driver.

Looks like a great magazine. Picked one up at lunchtime. With the quality of the first issue, $12 for 11 more is a steal.

I'm signing up. (heck, cost me almost $6.00 just for one.)

Paul,
Dont get me wrong I would subscription even for the price of 24 US to canada. I have had subscription to Hot Rod and other ones but the problem with that. For some reason on it's way in the mail it will ether be riped up, lost or some one has read it all ready.

So I will hope some place around hear will have it forsale.

Hell, if you are honestly interested in the magazine, send me 24 bucks and Ill forward them to you in an envelope monthly:D

Paul

I just signed up for my subscription. Looking forward to it. I only had a chance to read your article and the 1st paragraph of the Cougar article. I would also think that posting the pages on the internet would be a Copywrite infringement.

I was out looking tonight but could not find it I guess it's like most stuff it takes to years to come to canada EH!

Since it seems interest in the mag is growing well in our community, I have to ask, what kind of future SC stories would you like to see? Im not implying for a moment that the story line is up to me, but I certainly can pass it along to Ray and see where it goes from there.

How about a profile of the SCCoA?

How a niche vehicle club like ours, help each other to preserve and enhance the SC's. Then the diversity of goals within the community; from those doing restoring, like Lance & the 35th registry, to those like me and others who love the original GT concept but want more overall performance, to the power crazed :p drag racers with the HP/TQ wars and the member/merchants who support all those projects. And of course, how the internet is making all this possible.

There's gotta be a "hook" in there somewhere. ;) I think it'd make a pretty interesting article, but I may be just a little biased. :D
