The engine runs and looks great thanks to a number of friends and suppliers, but obviously mostly to Mike "It doesn't leak a drop of ANYTHING!" D.

And as per usual, there's still a couple of problems. The diver's window is off the track due to the body damage and the tranny's got a problem. The window will get fixed when the door does - with a little manuel help it goes up and down. It's only caught my fingers a couple of times so far. :p

As far as the tranny; I'm going to talk to Lentech about a VB and 10" TC. If it's gonna be pulled out anyway, might as well do it. ;)

Here's a pic.

I'm getting the Street Terminator VB w/OD lockout shifting @ 5,200-5,400rpm. The 9.5" TC, 2,400-2,600 rpm stall and the single hardened input shaft. I'm also adding their tranny cooler and Grand Prix chin spoiler.

Parts should be here Wed or Thurs. Now I've got to go out and find a good tranny shop. ;)

I WANT TO DRIVE MY BABY!!

IMHO you should have gone with the whole tranny. Losing OD like you did is very VERY comon. Slipping in between gears and breaking servo's and sprags is comon too. Your budget is your budget though :)

Lee, did you make it TRANSPARENT to them that you own a SC? Chris Wise thought he did when he bought his first converter and it had to go back for a reflash because the stall was much higher than proposed. What made you get the 9 1/2" converter?

Len and I had a pretty long conversation about HP, gearing, use, etc. He was asking all the right ?? and seemed real knowedgeable. I even noted that there were a # of guys in the SCCoA using Lentech products and how much they liked them.

My emphasis is on playing in the mountain twisties and Len said with the lower mass and stall speed, the 9.5" would be more responsive and provide better engine braking.

The trans shop I found up here appears to be pretty good. I got to talk directly with the tech who's gonna be doing the work. Tommy assured me he's done work on Lentech before. He's going tear it down and start the rebuid before the Lentech parts get here, so I can get it back soonest. ;)

If Lentech shipped Mon. I may have the SilverBird back by the weekend. It's possible. (?) Although the way things seem to go, that may be too optimistic.

Just remember that they are shipping from Canada and that Customs will hold stuff there for a while.

But they didn't ship until Tues. and left off the 1st digit of my address, so it couldn't be delivered.
Then when I got it to the tranny shop Fri. the bossman had decided he didn't want to start tearing it down until the parts had arrived. Bottom line? - maybe next Tues.

The input shaft was missing from the shipment. That won't be here now until Thurs.

Hopefully I'll have it back for Rte 66 this weekend?

Lee,

I'm going to make a recomendation. As soon as you get all your parts, and as soon as the car is running and broken in, SELL IT! The car was not meant to be with you. It has taken you forever and a day to get it running and as soon as it ran PERFECTLY with another driver and you got to it, it broke. I know in essence after doing this DAMN near EVERYTHING on that car will be new, but trust me, you WILL find a new way to break it. I don't know how, and I don't know when, but if you keep driving it, expect pistons to be melted, trannys to be blown, blowers to grenade, or rear axles to take a siht.

IMHO,
Alex

Paul man, its how I've felt about mine lately. By this time next year, there'll probably be a new Lightning on my driveway...if not that a Cobra or a GTO.

I know Al will consider this just another opportunity for things to go wrong, but when am I getting my quick change SC pullies?

They didn't have time to put the oil cooler in , but I don't have time to put the chin spoiler on so it evens out.

Break-in is supposed to be 100 Miles, so I did that. :p

The higher stall speed converter is going to take a little getting used to, but it feels pretty good.

The more things change, the more things change. I was going to Sacremento Sat., now I'm going to Vegas to work on a downed system @ a hospital out there.

Am I ever going to get to drive this thing?!?

I've got over 500 mi on the engine and 200 on the tranny, so I let loose on it a couple of times today (just through 1st gear) and it REALLY feels good. Tomorrow I've got to get it smog tested which should be interesting.
