Check this out......i was talking to my dad today and he told me i lost 12hp on my car. I was like....~~~ are you talking about?
He then tells me that my K&N air filter is giving off oils into my supercharger that are bringing down horsepower?
sounds like BS to me but he said he was talking to a grandnational owner and supercoupe owner about it.
i think he blowing smoke.:p

If these guys don't like K&N's, then I'd like to know what filters they do like and why.
K&N's are dyno proven to make more hp on many cars. They don't filter as well as a stock filter. If you over-oil a K&N, then it will pass oil into the intake system. This has been known to damage mass air sensors in extreme cases.

If you just have the cone filter on the end of the MAF with no kind of barrier from keeping the hot air from getting into it then yeah, you'd loose some HP and TQ. Get a cold air kit (MAC, ZR etc.) and that will help. Anytime i've seen an SC on the dyno the second run is always lower #'s - it's the heat. Hot air produces less power. Ever notice how some guys still use the stock air box with a K&N, they don't get the hot air issues like your experiencing. It's not the K&N that's causing your loss in power (this IS dyno proven, right?) it's the setup.
