Dean, we will be getting the RR's from Paul @ Blue Tongue Motorsports. Those who know him will attest to the quality of his parts. He has conducted 2 group buys for these RR's before, and no one has had any complaints to my knowledge.
I have added you to the list.

I want a set of adjustable roller rockers and then I'll sell my 1.73's. Does any one know where I can get a set of adjustables?
SeanMatteson
09-23-2003, 07:19 AM
Greg,
Why? Are you planning to slap in some solid lifters?! I don't know that you'll see any benefit from running adjustable rockers. I think you're just looking for a total PITA! Think about what it takes to get at the damned things. You would have to pull the blower and both plenums in order to remove the valve covers just to get at them. I've heard that running solid lifters and adjustable rockers usually means that you get stuck adjusting them on a monthly basis, or maybe even a weekly basis. Sounds too much like work to me.
...And solid lifters tend to be noisy.
Cheers,
Sean

Hi,
Dumb question: can you run these roller rockers with a stock cam?
I was thinking...if the price is so good I should grab a set for when my head gaskets (knock on wood) finally give out...a nice upgrade to have on hand! ;)
Jim.
sabbySC
09-24-2003, 11:35 AM
Greg, you can either buy adjustables or get new pushrods and shim the rockers accordingly when you install the new cam. Or you could pay a little extra and buy custom length pushrods.
Personally I would just opt for some hardened pushrods and shim.

Jim, that would be around $236.00 CAD plus whatever shipping costs there is.

Ok....
Another dumb question: what benefit do these rockers have over the stock ones?
Jim.
tbirdsc357
09-25-2003, 04:00 PM
Jim,
I'm no expert but as far as I know they are made out of aluminun and so they are lighter than the stock ones....they are supposed to reduce heat and friction......thus giving HP gains.
I have heard that you get more lift with the 1.8 Roller Rockers....but some people have had problems with them. Maybe someone who knows a little more on the technical side can give some input.
Jason Wild
09-25-2003, 04:19 PM
Jim,
There is no such thing as a dumb question.
A roller rocker has less friction that stock this because it's running on roller bearings not a metal to metal with some oil to lower the friction. I hope that helps some what.
SeanMatteson

Here's some pics of the set that I bought off Paul (BTM). I believe this is exactly what he still sells. The first shows the full kit...

Here's a profile view of one rocker up close...
SeanMatteson
09-25-2003, 07:07 PM
Here's a view of the rocker from underneath. You'll notice in the center, there's a roller shaft with a hole through it for the bolt. That shaft is isolated from the rest of the rocker by a bearing on either end.
SeanMatteson
09-25-2003, 07:08 PM
Finally, here is a picture showing the rocker, the bolt, and the pedestal (sp?). There are twelve full sets like this one in the kit.

Okay guys....I spoke to Paul and I will be letting you know in the next few days when we can start sending out our payments.
Ed has been gracious enough to accept the shipment for the Ontario boys, that way we can save some money on shipping, taxes, and duty.
Each of the Ontario guys will send the payment of $175.00US, when it gets here the shipping costs will be split up evenly........you will pay that amount at the time of pick up.
For the two guys in the US (z90sc, scrapsc).....you need to email Paul and let him know your ZIP code, he will give you a shipping cost which you will pay at the same time when you send your payment.
When sending your payment please specify "SCCoO Group Buy" so that Paul knows who you are.
Once again, I will be letting you know in a day or two when we can start sending our payments.
Steve Pathay.

Are we going to have to pay GST and PST now?
tbirdsc357
09-28-2003, 09:03 PM
Jason,
No.....we will pay that after it gets here.
I am going to pay Paul the shipping fees to get get all the RR's for SCCoO members shipped here. After it gets here there will be the taxes & duty added....which I will also pay.
We then add the shipping costs, taxes, and duty then divide it evenly......which each person will pay to me or Ed on pick up.

If the Ontario guys would like your parts shipped to your door that is fine, it might make things a little more convienent for you.

Let me know if you want to do this.

09-29-2003, 05:45 AM
Okay guys ...the time has come to send our payments to Paul. I have set a closing date of October 1 for this group buy....anyone after that will not qualify.
You need to specify "SCCoO Group Buy" so that Paul knows who you are. Ontario guys need to send their payments of $175.00 US to Paul by the following methods :
1) Paypal : PaypalOrders@BlueTongueMotorsports.com
2) Certified Check
3) Money Order
I recommend that we all use paypal that way everything goes faster. If you don't have a paypal account....one can be made in the matter of a few minutes, just go to paypal.com and create a new account.
Let me know when you have sent your payment so that I can undate the list with "PAID" next to your name.
The US guys, don't forget to send Paul an email with your ZIP so that he can give you a shipping cost.

What happened to Oct. 13th deadline???
Just randomly decided to change it to Oct. 1st??
Some of us older-timers take longer to make up our minds you know!!!
Anyway, sounds like a good deal so count me in on the group buy.

LOL.....no it was not just randomly changed. It was stuck at the top for a while so that everyone that had interest in this product would have a chance to see it and respond. Thats why I had the "Maybe" section up there.......Ryan was the only one that showed interest and did not make up his mind.
Had you posted anything you would have been placed in that section, but anyway.........I will place you on the list. The closing date of October 1 still stands. Friday will be fine for the payment.

He will not be placing the supplying order obviously until after everyone has paid. Paul checked into shipping today. Cost is $42 for 5-7 sets going to one address, however the total rises to $53.60 if you want insurance on the package. Let me know if you want insurance on the shipment,
If we go with $53.60 US, with that split seven ways it works out to roughly $10.32 CAD......we would then add the taxes and duty on that. Without insurance it is $8.09 + Taxes + duty. Let me know what you want.

Steve, as indicated last night, I will send payment via paypal to BTM on Friday.
If the bulk order is being shipped to one address such as to Sir Ed at "Fines" that would be fine with me to keep costs down.
The extra couple of bucks to insure the package is probably a good idea.

The final shipping costs came up to $91.36 CAD and then I had to pay $53.13 CAD at pick up. That should be the taxes and whatever else.
Soooooo.......$91.36 + $53.13 = $144.49
Split that 7 ways and it come out to $20.64 from each of you when you pick up the roller rockers.
