Selling 35th Anniversary

I have a '90 35th Anniversary T-Bird that I may be interested in selling in a few months. The car was driven by my mother (in Californai) from the day it was driven off the Ford lot until a few years back, when I brought it out here to Atlanta. I have all the repair receipts dating back to the day it was purchased.

Within the past year I've had the cooling system flushed, sun roof seal replaced, the crank sensor replaced (twice, dealership nightmare story), the harmonic balancer replaced, new plugs and wires, new motor mounts, transmission & converter drained, and the A/C checked out and recharged. The car has ~118K miles. I also have the 35th Anniversary car cover, 35 anniversary floor mats, unused anniversary keys & key chain, the factory suede cleaning kit, and a MN12 stock intercooler fan (though not installed). Lastly, a Flowmaster cat back exhaust system has bean installed. Majority of the last work was performed by Ford Performance Specialists. ( www.fordspecialists.com/ ) When the oil was drained from the tranny, it looked very clean.

What's wrong with the Car?
Well, there is some hail damage from ~ 2 years ago, which being a black car can be seen; not to mention the paint needs to buffed out. The new sun roof seal has shrunk a little creating ~0.5" gap, so I need to splice in a patch piece from what was left over when it was installed. The passenger A pillar has a small crack and the rear window tinting is starting to form small bubbles (~ 3 bublles of ~ .25 inches in length). The factory JBL CD player is not working and the factory JBL radio is also starting to have some issues. Now for the kicker, last January I bumped the front bumper off a guard rail while sliding on some ice (up in Tennessee). Luckily, the only damage appears to be the facia. The honeycomb and steel bar appear to be fine and the hood, fenders, and lights were not touched. In fact all I believe that happened is that the facia just shattered from the impact because it was so cold and brittle.

If you would like to se pictures, I have links at www.imdl.gatech.edu/ljtha...index.html

The problem is I don't want to sell the car to any John Doh. I would prefer to see the car go to someone that will appreciate it and take care of it ; hopefully fixing the things I let go. In fact, considering what is wrong with it I think it would make a good project / daily driver. If I were to keep it I would look into new shocks and having the rotors turned, besides fixing or replacing the radio. At this time I just rather put my money into my truck.

Lastly, I know what the car is worth to me in brakes & tires (i.e. not putting miles on my truck), but I'm not familiar with the SC market. I'm most likely going to have the front facia replaced unless any interested party would prefer to do it themselves.

If you are interested, know someone that may be interested, or have some suggestion on where I should advertise it (besides here), please let me know.

Thanks,

L.J.

I am interested and can wait

L.J,

You did not leave an e-mail address. Please contact me at Huberg@benning.army.mil and let me know what are your terms and e-mail me more stuff about the car and photos of it.

There are plenty of these 35th to choose from, but let me know what you are looking to get for it. I have a white 90 SC, and two 95 SC's and I can assure you it will go to a good home.

How are the seats in your 35th. That's the hardest thing to deal with if they have rips and stuff.

Re: I am interested and can wait

My e-mail is gt0030b@prism.gatech.edu, though I just sent you an e-mail.

As for the seats, the suede on the front seats could use a little brushing and cleaning. Since the back seats are barely used, they are in excellent shape. The leather on the front seats is also in good shape. A few years back we noticed the cushioning in the driver seat had lost its umph so we had it rebuilt. The other thing we noticed was that the driver left bolster got chewed up from people getting in and out of the car. To fix this we had the leather on the bolster replaced and two custom leather booties made to cover the bolsters, one for the driver seat and one for the passenger seat. The booties now take the rubbing and prevent the bolster leather on the seat from taking the abuse of getting in and out. The booties match so well you can't tell they are there. In fact I forgot about them until you reminded me by asking about the seats.

Right now I am not sure what a fair price is so will be keeping my eye out. I also wouldn't expect you to be able to give a fair price without seeing the car. The reason my time line is in a couple of months is that I need to drive it until I get my truck back from the dealership (warranty work) and do a couple of projects on it (the truck that is).

Anyway, let me know next time you are in Atlanta and we could arrange to meet.

L.J.

p.s.
On edit: All three drive belts were replaced about the same time the cooling system was flushed.

p.ss The water pump was replaced ~100 miles ago, after the reflushing. Again, I have all the receipts.

p.ss Just over a year ago I had the cheazie plastic tape on the door pillars (by the door window) stripped and the pillars painted satin black because the tape was bunching up. The rear bumper facia was replaced and painted ~ 2 years ago because of a retread that kicked up and cracked the facia right by the passenger exhaust outlet (where the exhaust had made it brittle). I also have the factory exhaust, but it is being stored in California.

That's all I can remember for now.

Re: Selling 35th Anniversary???

Here is some more info regarding the 35th Anniversary.

The last mechanic I had work on the car was Doug at Ford Performance Specialist (770-949-7191). If you feel comfortable, I have no problems with you contacting him and asking his opinion of the car. I have not spoken to him since I picked up the car from having the repairs performed and believe he would give you an honest opinion.

The VIN is 1FAPP64R4LH169391

The paint has been buffed out, but the front bumper is not fixed. I would rather sell the car as is for less then fixing the bumper.

Another 35th Anniversary paraphernalia item I have is the insignia pen, that still writes. Unfortunately I could not find the unused 35th Anniversary keys and only have the used set. I also have the original JBL cleaning kit and Ford CD holder still in the box Ford shipped it in (with VIN reference on the mailing label).

Today I asked around and was referenced to Rick Cunnngham, so I stopped by and spoke to him (at Higgins Ford Performance). He gave the car a quick look over and can give an unbiased opinion of its shape and the bumper damage. Unfortunately I think Rick has enough SC's to keep his hands full. So far I have showed the car to one person (contacted through this message board) and am waiting for their response / offer.

Again, I'm trying to find a good home for this car and would prefer selling it to an enthusiasts who could give it the proper TLC instead of selling it through the Auto Trader route.

Please feel free to e-mail me.

I live just north of downtown Atlanta and can meet those in the area that are interested.

Web Page Up

I put together a little web page with a list of details and the asking price I settled on.

www.imdl.gatech.edu/ljtha...-sale.html

I still have to update it with pictures of the interior and exterior, but in the meantime the pctures referenced in the above posts are still up.

All I want is for the car to go to a good home that can give it the proper TLC. I want to sell the car for a price that is both fair to me and the buyer, so please let me know if you have a better suggestion of what I should ask if you feel the asking price is not appropriate (even if you are not interested in the car).

Now that sounds like the sheep inviting the wolf over for Dinner

Thanks,

L.J.

Re:35th Anniv.

Since I saw it at Silver Dollar I've been giving it a lot of thought. Only problem is I'll have to put it on my equity line account and it's already higher than I want. If I get my 89 sold and yours is still available I'll go for it.

Re: Re:35th Anniv.

Mike,

I don't know what your time line is, but I foresee having the car through at least January. I hopefully will be bringing my truck in for repairs early January when I get back from California. Unless someone comes along and takes it off my hands, I will probably drive the T-Bird while the truck is in the shop.

I know as a seller I shouldn't say this, but once my truck is repaired I will probably be more flexible with the price.

Just let me know.

L.J.
