Passing Smog with any car is an accomplishment, but with an Sc it is reason for a celebration! :D I did that last year, this year all it is hitting me with is $90.00

Now that the smog issue is over its time to to ge the tranny worked on and some fine tuning for max. HP. I was really shocked how clean the car was running. I was sweating over it for nothing. He never said anything about all the extra go fast parts. Makes me wonder if all the parts actually improved my emissions or if the allowances are that lenient. I guess I shouldn't care, I'm good for two more years.

I don't want to f-in hear about it. After taking off the ZR intake, MAF, and some other non stock stuff, putting all the stock crap back on, I passed the visual but failed emissions - HC and CO were low (OK) but NO was way too high. Still cost me $80, and the place won't do a free retest unless they do the repairs. Yeah right, like I'm going to let these losers touch my car.
Now I probably won't have time to fix it before late fees set in... plus I'm paying $480 for the WRX registration ... I'm ready to "go postal"...
Starting to wonder if it might be cheaper to pay the fine for driving unregistered, how much is that anyway Mark?

Rob,
To avoid the late fee just send in your money to register. They will send a notice to remind you to get a smog check. You won't get your tags until you get smogged, but you won't get late fees either. All they want is your money!!!!!!

Hey Rob,
Derek is right. Just pay your fees so you don't get dinged for late fees. Also get an Emergengy Operating Permit (Red Sticker). That will allow you to drive temporaily without getting into trouble. Just make sure you display it. I know over in your neck of the woods they'll probably give you at least 60 days. So you should be good through the first of the year. That's what I did. It gave me a little time to change a few things and some time to make adjustments if needed. In my case I just used my stock air box and MAFS to draw less attention to the mods. I also turned down my fuel pressure since I was running larger injectors.
Anyway good luck.

Thanks for the suggestion, I didn't know about the emergency permit or paying the fees. Unfortunately the due date was yesterday, guess I should have checked the board again sooner! At least now I know I don't have to wait to send in the money. I've been reading up on the subject and I think with the EEC tuner I should be able to make some adjustments and it will pass.

Rob,
Good luck with the tuner. At least the late fees shouldn't be too bad, one of the advantages of owning an older car. Or did you qualify for the new and improved registration fees our good former governor set into place.
