Look what I found

Don't know if this belongs in this forum. It didn't seem to fit any place, but I wanted to share this. I purchased a new 90-91 SC crate motor. At least all of the indications are that it is new. It was still packed in the Ford paper and Ford box. It is complete down to the last detail. Blower, exhaust, a lot of electrical, plugs, wires, on & on.
It has a lot of the paint marks from passing through quality checks. Won't be installing in the coupe until near the end of year. That will give me time to thoughly check out, but looks like it could be installed and driven away.
If I did this correctly there will be some pictures.
Dial-up warning, these are large pictures for detail.

That's beautiful. Where and how did you find that? What kind of dollars did you have to pay for it? That's the way I'd want to go if I needed a rebuild. Good for you and good luck on the install.

WOW!!!

I can hardly believe my eyes! This guy has a brand new LONG BLOCK!!! I am willing to bet that this is the last one!

Like vancouverBC asked, "Where on earth did you get that and what did it cost???

Wow!!!!

Brings tears to my eyes... Now, I know it would seem almost criminal to tinker with it, but what mods are you planning before you "drop it in"? Knowing what we do about the stock balancers, maybe a BHJ? and possibly some porting and polishing? If it was actually manufactured prior to the headgasket recall, might be worth while to do an upgrade. Its a tough call...do you leave it bone stock, or do you "fix" some of the known "trouble spots" while you can easily get to them.

I did find the engine on e-bay. My wife likes the car and doesn't want a new one. Since I am a mechanic (cranes) I had been looking for an engine to rebuild for awhile. We bought the SC in Jan 1993 with 25,000 miles on it. It now has close to 180,000 miles and running fine.
It still has the original head gaskets. I have done some repairs over the years including the damper. I will put the better bolt in the damper from the mustang. I will put some thought and reasearch in the head gaskets, but I am not into a lot of mods anymore.

As complete as it is I thought it was a great find at $2300.00.

Oh baby! That is a hell of a deal!!
How much you want to sell for?? :D

Did you buy from a company selling on Ebay? Or private party? I'm thinking maybe a few more they have??

It was a private sale. A gentleman who had bought it as a backup for his 91 SC. Said he had or was going to sale the car so he didn't need the engine any longer.

Great deal man!
Those pics really makes it easy to see a lot of things on the motor that we never get to see. Your pics may be useful for someone trying to describe a part to the forum in the future. Wow! Still just unbeleivable how nice it is. Tell your wife how we all have new engine envy for you...:D

Here are a few of the engine pictures from the previous post.
I finally plan on changing the engine out in about two weeks.

If I did it correct this time the pictures should stay up.

crate engine

Where did you buy the engine and how much did it cost?

I got one from NECO that was installed locally; total cost over $4,000.

I have some other T-Birds that will need engines in the future. Let me know your details.

Thanks,

Al Talley

What is that long grey box with two electrical connectors on top of your ac compressor? I dont have one of those.
