Not a lot of activity going on here.

Soooooo....

Who want to help me do motor/tranny mounts?

Come on, I even thrown in a big ol Thanks for helping out. :p

Think my dad and I are going to do them some time in the next couple weeks. It looks like rain early next week here and we are trying to do some maintenance on our house for possible selling. Plus Makayla doesn't quite have her days and nights down yet. Going to be a great couple weeks.

Oh and I bit the bullet and after owning an SC for almost 8 years and browesing the SCCoA for somewhere in the range of 6-7 years I sent in my money and joined.

If you can help with the head gasket job on my red SC I could help with your motor mounts. You know, stand there and hold the flashlight, fetch you water or something. Actually I'll get Rick to do the head gaskets. I finally got the title and the rest of the parts so It's about ready to go.

Well,

Mike guess I didn't need your water fetching abilites after all. ;)

Put them in Saturday, don't see how anyone does them from the bottom.

Will try to get some pics posted of the old ones to show just how bad they were.

I spent saturday working on mine, too. I finished grinding on my homemade raised sc outlet adapter for the red SC, and I finshed fabricating the racing seat mounts for the racecar. I'm just waiting on the ARP headstuds to come for Rick to start on the red SC headgasket job. That and my next paycheck!:D

Hey, not a problem, forget what Mike posted, I am the best flashlight holder, water fetcher that is out there on the free market....:p

If you need some help, give me a call 698-3611 after 6:00 PM ish and we see what we can do.

Its long, but easy. On the driverside, I took off both IC tubes, the intercooler, the alternator and the bracket that holds the p/s pump. There are 5 bolts on that side, 2 on the front into the block, one on the back to the block one that holds the mount to the frame and the through bolt.

On the passanger side, intake hose and filter area, AC compressor and bracket that it connects to. There are 4 bolts front/rear mount to block, mount to frame and the though bolt.

On both sides, I took off the wheel and interfender for better sight/access.

I did one side at a time, that way if I had to stop, the car was driveable and not both sides off.

I would suggest purchasing the Tbird88 IC seals. I got the motor and tranny mount from Rich at MN-12 Performance.

All I can say after driving now for 2 days is WOW, what a major difference it makes. Its so smooth.

Wellllll Tim, I think I'll let Rick do it anyway. My arthritic joints just aren't up to it. I'll do some of it but my mechanicing days are numbered. Racing it is another story. I'll run it down the strip at the drop of a hat.

Well I will give you a shout when I get ready to do them, I have a friend with a lift in his garage , dont know if that would help any.
How much did you spend on the mounts?

Not sure how usefull a lift is...

I don't think it would have been all that usefull when doing it from the top, but post in the tech forum for a better range of opinions.

I purchased the solid rubber motor and tranny mount from MN-12 Performance (http://mn12performance.com) and paid around $130 with shipping for both. I think the mounts are 70 and the tranny add on was 40. I also got the reusuable intercooler seals from Wynn(Tbird88) which I can't find the web address. They were like $20.

One note, MN-12 dropped the price right after I purchased the motor mounts so I think they are 60 now. Also not all motor mounts are equal and some "solid" rubber have a hole in the center instead of the liquid the OEM have.
