Here I am just driving home from my son's new house and this guy comes up with his shinny black ZO6 vette. Well he looks my bird over a bit and starts to do those jumpimg jabs at the gas. He is tring to see me for my reaction but he can't due to the limo tint on all my side and rear windows. So this playing goes on for about a block and I have already slowed down to get myself ready for him. The trans is already dropped into second. I time it just right and as soon as he starts to let off his last jab, I blast it to the max. He jumps back into the gas but too little too late. I get out of it and let the speed come back to more normal #'s and push the window down. He comes up along side of me and I give him that "What's the matter, you lost" look.
Well I think you could have cooked a egg on his face after that. He was so mad that he didn't even want to try again.. So all the way home I just smiled to myself knowing that there is some guy with a $50,000 vette that couldn't get past my 35th bird.
I tell you what, if you want to get picked on get a 35th bird, smoke the windows, add a "cobra R" hood and black headlight covers, and watch all the guys want to play.. what fun....Rich

I don't know what you have done to your 35th so don't get mad at me for saying this but are you sure he was racing you. I own a 93sc 5-speed with every bolt on you can buy exept the FMIC and i love my sc. I also own a 99corvette hardtop all stock 6sd. I hate to tell you guys but it 's not even close. Maybe if i could dump about 800 pounds out of my sc it would be a close race. O.K. let me have it.

Sorry Brandon i scrolled down to fast. I have owned SC's for almost 11 years now. I have only had the vette for a couple of months. But i would like people to know that if they think their going to go as fast as these new vettes with bolt ons their going to be dissapointed. I just don't want people to be misled. Just talk to any of the guys running 13 or lower in the quarter and they will tell you your going to have to spend 10grand or more.

You would kill me then....mine is only good to about 130 then I would have to shift into OD and the Lentech VB won't allow full throttle upshifts.

Now if we start at 25 mph that would be much funner.

Yes. I would be willing to write something on this car and the swap.
Was the guy in the vette tring, you bet he was, with the amount of rubber we both left there is no question that we were both going.
What to put in a s.c. body and how much... There is nothing hard about this swap. There is no cutting needed and everything is bolt in once you make the adaptors for the engine mounts.
How much? give me a e-mail and we can talk on this.
How big is this one, Dave, it's a 514. strocker and it has some help as well. This thing will run as fast as the other big guys on this page and then some. I have posted some time slips somewhere on here before....
now, the 302 was put into these cars, all you have to do is find a donor car and move everything over to the sc. That can't be that hard to do either...
Now for those that don't have it , here is my e-mail address.. bruhn@execpc.com and if you want to call feel free to at 414-425-4710.... Rich

You better hope he says straight line because very few cars are going to outhandle it :)

FWIW, new stock Z06s (on slicks) run about Daves times on juice and give or take a mph or two. Granted, they're not the world's fastest cars, and the GM interior "design" on a $50k car leaves something to be desired, but you really can't put them down as "slow and crappy-handling"...

And now we start the timer before Dennis pipes in about Gus' twin-turbo C5 that runs -4's now (its so fast, time runs backwards at the strip... Gus is now 6 years old thanks to this thing!)

Stock Vette doesn't handle? Well, I, along with just about every auto magazine written, disagrees with that one:

I made the mistake of driving a vette about 3 months ago. Their freaking awesome, the ride, the handling, the seemless acceleration. The only downside is it only seats two. I have no intentions on selling my sc i still want put a good cam and heads package on it, but i'm not going to do that untill i rebuild the motor. 127,000 and still going strong.

You can build a car to run 12.99 at the strip (3.73 gears no OD), OR your can build a car that'll run 160 mph (2.73 gears + OD).

Neither should race the other (unless the bet is "burgers & fries").

Each car is purpose built!!!!!

Now if your car has 4.56 gears, runs the quarter in 10.5 @ 140 mph, & doesn't run over 6000 rpm, Then invite me to video tape THAT run for ya! Hell, I'll even put it on the net for ya, no charge!

Yes there was a C6 on that big block. Now there is a better one on it now. This one has been worked over a bunch to get this car amoving as they say in some parts. When I changed the engine I also did the trans as both were kinda stock when you first say the car.
now on another subject, I also am crazy enought to go play with a whole town of "bow ties". A few years ago I went to Indy for a car show with my 427 comet drag car. Well as luck would have it there was also a "Super Chevy" show going on out at the strip.. Their deal was a thursday to sunday deal and mine was a friday thru sunday show. Well while we were sitting by the pool on friday afternoon some of the guys were getting a bit on the loud side. I was quiet at first, then when the time got right I went over to the trailer and out came the comet... There was not much said at first untill someone took a good look and that was it. That night I went cruising with these guys and everywhere we went they would make room for me to park and it was great...
No matter who they are, or what they drive, when they see something that is really trick they ALL give you respect.... This I have seen time and time again... When that comet comes out there is not much said on the bad side....
I could also tell you guys about the time that I ran into the Wisconsin Corvette Club in route to a weekend at Elk Cart race track, with my Cobra, but that too is off the subject of what this was all about.....But that was one heck of a fun time[for me at least] and it was really a Kodak moment.....that some of them would not want to think about again.........Rich

500 hp.
500 torque at 4500 rpm

I would like to have a GT40. But $150,000.00 ,That is the price Ford company
put out,and I think they will raise that price again. And when the dealers get
there greedy hands on one they are going to jack it up some more.
Thats $150,000.00+
$1000.00 gas gusler tax
dealer add on and shipping another $15,000.00 +++
state tax $9,000.00
Plates & title $250.00
Insurance scary $10,000.00 a year

You can maybe drive one home for about $185,250.00

They are going to make the GT40 for two years.1500 of them each year.
I would think most are already sold for the first year.To collectors.
But in 10 years the sky would be the limit on the price.$500,000.00
and up.

At those prices,I would half to buy a Focus and put a lighting motor in
the back to get a new mid-engine Ford.
