Just wanted to the best year model to buy. Going to buy sc Thunderbird trying to get most for my money. which year would be the best as far as trann, blower, etc. I think these cars look good and like the fact that it just a v6 the sleeper.

As far as performance goes the 94/95 SC's have the best stock performance numbers. The manual tranny's are all the same but the 94/95's had different automatic tranny's in them. 89 to 93 had the AOD and the 94/95's had the computer controlled 4r7105632 WD-40's in them(I can't remember what they are called). Personally though, I think the 89 to 93's are the toughest looking of them. IMO the 94/95's just don't have "that look". I would like to have one though just because of the better supercharger and engine improvements, plus they don't have the automatic shoulder belts. You can't go wrong either way though really, they're beautiful cars and can be made very quick. They are definitely sleepers.

4R70W is the technical name for them. But its debatable which is better, some like the M and others preffer the 4R70W. Personally I think an auto detracts from the driving experience.

89-93 looks better in my opinion, but i also own a 94 LX so its a mixed group for me. 94-95 engine is better so drop one in a 89-93 and have fun! :D

Thanks ,but is the aod a better trans then the 4R70W. I know the 4R70W comes with better gears
The blower from a 94-95 is better. If you had this blower MagnaPorted vs 89-93MagnaPortII Blower which would be better or would this be the same.

There is a difference between early and late model 5-speed trannys. The newer version has better gear spacing and uses a slightly larger clutch.

The Magnaport II is supposed to flow slightly better than the Magnaport, but the difference is small. Just do the one corresponding to the year you get.

The biggest thing when looking at SCs is just go for the best deal you can find. Find a car in good condition for a fair price. The condition of the car is more important than the year, you dont want one thats been completely beat.

Really depends on your tastes. The 93 is a good choice if you like the early style car. It has the updated trunk lid LED, front spindles that allow for larger brake upgrades, gas tank that most aftermarket cat-back systems will fit and the newer TEVES anti-lock brake system. It also has the newer style directional rims, but these can be easily swapped out if you like the earlier style ones.

It you like the 94-95 style then either of those years are basically the same. They do have the upgrade blower and larger injectors for a little more HP than the earlier cars. The automatic cars have electronic traction control rather than the clutch type limited slip diff of the earlier years. 5-speeds for these years are more rare and still have the limited slip diff.

can you take the wide ratio gear set in the '94/95 4R70W and put it in the aod or aode. I only ask because the ones I've looked at cost about $500 and you could pick up a junk yard trans for $100-200 and would there be any other useful parts that would swap.

are you asking if you can swap the entire tranny or jus the gear set?

If you want the wide gear-ratio, you can buy just it, or you can find a vehicle with the AOD that already has the wide ratio kit in it. I got lucky when I got a junkyard trans that had it in it.
