Mark VIII Maf?

hello,
Well a buddy of mine has a 94 lincoln mark viii parts car and i'm looking to find out what parts i can use off of it when i found this. http://www.mn12performance.com/mn12parts/intake-kit/57-2525.htm
It says I can use the 80mm maf off of this mark viii and mate it to a K&N FIPK for a superduty truck. This actually looks like a good setup. 10mm more of mass air room and a that big K&N filter and intake looks pretty damn good.
I'm looking for information from people that have performed this mod. The article explains that no eec tuning will be necessary and everything just simply bolts up. Will it work without any side effects like idling problems or so on. If not, then it looks like a good cheap mod to me, since i can get the lincoln maf for possibly free. If you have any first hand experience or KNOW of anyone who has done this please let me know. I'v tried using search to find out more info on this but haven't got any results.

thanks
dan

well i saw this mod http://www.mn12performance.com/mn12parts/intake-kit/57-2525.htm
well it says that it does not require any recalibration so i'll probably do it, I just wanted to see if anyone could verify that it works fine. I'v got K&N panel filter with removed air silencer now, but i bet that big filter and intake tube would help me out.

thanks
dan

Dan I tested it and verified it works. The MAF voltage curve on the Mark VIII MAF is the same as the SC as the Mustang 1993 Cobra. If you go to the web site www.pro-flow.com you will see the SC, 93 Cobra and the Mark VIII all use the same voltage curve. Look at the ProM Curve row the Cob24.

ProM Applications

80mm MAF

I use a Lincoln MAF F3VZ-12B579-AA + K&N Filter #RE-870
It has a square inlet flange(about 4") and needs an adapter
I use an adapter from
http://accufabracing.com/general.htm#MassAir
This MAF needs a 3.5" tube to the Throttle Body
This 80mm MAF is the 70mm Big brother it has a bridge in the center
C&L claims it flows 670cfm...30cfm short of their 73mm
Best of all its a bolt on without any recalibration

The K&N kit has the plastic tube which has to be cut down but it clears the strut tower. A steel tube as a inlet tube holds too much heat when the car is hot. I use to sell an aluminum and it got way too hot. 120 degrees is not uncommon to see under the hood and the metal tubes heat the incoming air. I tested the air with an infered gun on a 80 degree day when the aluminum tube was 120 degrees the air inside the tube was 112 degrees. All this heat before it ever hit the throttle body. When the air was moving it dropped to 100 degrees. The metal tubes cause the intercooler to work harder to cool the air charge. Keep this in mind when choosing the intake tube.

Below is the powercoated aluminum 3" intake tube we use to sell.
