I am trying to replace the EGR on my 1989 Cougar XR7 and have run into a wall. I have removed the plate off the plenum that holds the throtle linkage and the two bolts that hold the EGR to the plenum. My problem is getting the EGR off the the tube that connects to the manifold. How do I do this? Please help! This thing has frustraited me all day. If it helps any, it is a five-speed.

Any help is greatly appreciated!!!

the heat is on....

You will need some heat, or at best a very good derust oil.. Most of the time it will get it free, but if you need heat, be careful.....Good luck.....Rich

Do I need to disconect the EGR from the tube right below it, or should I diconnect the tube from the manifold?

Thanks!
Shane

Use a crows foot 15/16" to loosen the EGR from the pipe, but make sure that the two bolts are still tight. Not a fun job.
