Hey guys!

Can you guys advise / help me out with sourcing forged rods and pistons for the car. Just need some ideas/ part #'s if you have them from different companies. I've gotten input from non SC'ers and now I'll ask the "PRO'S"!! Thanks in advance.:D

Dean,
This is something you might want to ask over on the main board.

If you're not in a hurry, then Tom does great work, and better still, he stands behind his work. ...You can't take that away from him. Lately, it seems that Tom is swamped and projects seem to run on way past established deadlines.

If you're just looking to buy parts (cash and carry), then there probably isn't any harm at all in stopping by to talk to Tom.

Cheers,

Sean

This sounds interesting. I really hope that Tom can turn his business around. I agree that he is a great resource, and it's only a bonus that he's local to us!

you can also see Ceaser at Missasauga (sp?) engine builders, was talking with him and his brother Ed when they were in my shop today, Ceaser is a huge ford guy, has done a couple Sc motors he said, told me if I wanted to he would sit down and show me exactly what pistons, cam, heads everything that would need to be done to reach my goal.

Bruce,
Got a number for Ceasar?

Guy's thanks for your reply's so far. Steve I did put this on the tech forum after Jason suggested that up top but this one was on this board already but thanks.

I'm not looking for a engine builder. I will be building my own engine.( hopefully everything will go right )This will be my first!! I just need info on the best place to get the parts. I was on Morana's website and checked out some of his prices and products. Want to find out a few more before I throw down my cash.

:D

Dean,
There are somethings you need to think about and ask your self first befor you do anything.
Do you want to run NOS ever?
How much boost do you want to run?
H beam or I beam rods?
Total HP and TQ you want?
And the biggest how much do you want to spend on this?

As far as hp goes I am shooting for 325-350 rwhp.(without NOS)
I want to build a strong and reliable motor that won't give me grief everytime I turn around. Nos may be an option in the future but not right away. H beam/ I beam, not sure. What do you guys suggest? I am still making plans and nothing is in stone yet. I know what I want to achieve and you guy's are one of my best resources. I can't say money is not an object because I do have my priorities in order. I can say I won't be doing this overnight and I am willing to spend what it takes to reach my objectives over time. If you or anyone else in this club have any advice or ideas they are totally welcome!:D

Obtaining a piston/rod combo that will meet your needs should be easy. You can purchase a kit ready to go like the one I offer
http://www.bluetonguemotorsports.com/BTMParts/3_8PistonRodGP.html
or have something custom built to your specs for a few bucks more. Since you are saving some money by building the motor yourself, I would suggest you not skimp on the bottom end parts and get the strongest setup you can afford (read H beam rods, girdle etc). Put the bottom together and make sure it stays that way, pulling motors out and down will get tiresome real quick. Jason makes a very valid post and you need answers to his questions before making your purchase.

Paul,

I have no intention on skimping on the bottom end. Like I said I want to build a strong reliable motor.:D
Your stuff is one option I have considered. I am just "browsing" right now.
