For a set (front and rear) Koni shocks and Eibach springs for $450 ? These are used, but in great shape.
P.S. for the LX not the SC, I wanna keep the auto suspension.

hey bro...how do you know they are in good shape?
It would be tough to tell their condition just by looking at them, don't you think?
If you could tell if they WERE in good shape, then that is a great price compared to new.

by the ammount of force needed to push down on them and the time it takes the shock to return to a fully extended position...also if the guy or gal had a receipt of time of purchase, yu can estimate time/mileage and that would be an even better sign

OK Al...
Just for kicks, I want to see you compress a spring and shock, not many times, but just once.
I know you are a big dude, but enough leg pulling ok?

You can get a feel if the shocks are REALLY bad....but they don't tell you if they are simi-bad. Obviously this is JUST the shock...it has to be out of the spring.
And Ron has a good point....I'd pay good $ to see a man, with his bare hands (no extra tools) compress a coil-over spring-strut set. Particularly if they are new and stiff like these are suppose to be. :-)

me n my cousin were changint the shocks in his silverado and we can compress the shox all the way in, we just place em on the floor put our massive weight into it and they compress....dont believe me??? take one to the cruise and i'll compress it for you, it really aint that hard

Yeah...you can compress the SHOCK....but you can't compress it with the SPRINGS and the SHOCK as a single unit! Those are called coil-over design...meaning the spring is coiled-over the shock.
If you can compress this, then I'll make sure to NEVER mess with you in the back alley.

Are they lowering springs?
If they are, then....

Somewhere down the line I will drop it.
It needs new shocks and I thought I would put the springs in at the same time. After the cats and mufflers and seats and paint and heads, etc.

Actually, I have all the engine stuff done and now I need to do the exhaust a bit more before Bakersfield.
If I don't qualify, well, I plan of going ahead with the new heads. The only problem is that when you do the top end you usually get an unacceptable amount of blow-by. so you end up doing a rebuild...
So we'll see what happens.
Right now it looks like Shelton, Pedroza, EWDooley, Mike, You, TBK, The Barron, Mandi, Robert and then me. So to get into the race a guy has to be pretty bad. Those are some awesome rides in the top four.
Are you going the inverted set-up, NOS and hi-po TBK heads? Man, that will definitely get you in the low twelves! With slicks and a good r/t, you may break the magic barrier. A new King is born.

haha no, that would break my wallet big time...i think the most i want out of my sc are low 14's...but that wont be for a while
can u explain to mee how you would get blow by by ding the top end??? seems to me that if you would do the top end, you would increase flow and reduce compression, well maybe not compression but backpressure or something to that effect and then thus reduce blow by...what engine mods are in your car right now???
i think with what i got, im good for a low 15 with a good reaction time, pretty stock time i presume....i need to save up for some tires tho...these suckers are balding fast!!! if i dont have rubber before june, i may not run!

Alex...When you freshen up your heads you return them to "original" specs, therefore they don't have the wear on the valves and guides, etc. Thus, no leaks. All the compression is forced to the weakest point and that is usually the rings and thusly, blow-by.
If you only replace the head gaskets and do not freshen the heads then you are ok, generally.
I have heard that our motorts are pretty easy on ring and cylinder wear so I might be ok.

so then maybe thats where the blowby cam from after i did my heads the first time...it had 130k miles on it, and got a set of new heads w/o rings, lus they removed a bearing and compromised an oil seal or two...BASTARDS!
