Hey all!
Just wanted to 'touch base' for those that are wondering what's coming up.
First, and foremost, the Christmas Party. Yes, I am indeed looking into this. Without going into details a location is being 'reviewed' (no, not last year's excellent find by Greg and Nicky, Texas Longhorn Steakhouse). I can tell you that it will be after Christmas, as was last year. This will, undoubtedly, help to keep family planning less 'clouded' and hopefully keep the head-count up. Details will be made available a.s.a.p.
What else?
January will be Carlisle hotel hunting time. Probably the biggest (event-planning-wise, anyways) job for the year. Input will be appreciated here when it comes time. I really enjoyed Bill's find for this past year. Excellent accomodations with a reasonable price. Perhaps a re-visit from the SCCoO is possible? We'll see.
I'd like to plan some kind of cruise. You know, meet up some place, go for a drive, check out the sites. That kind of stuff. I remember a few locations being offered for the BBQ, maybe one of those would be nice to do/see? This will be something best left untill spring, at the earliest, i'm sure.
This, of course, leads us to the BBQ. Perhaps and good idea to do sometime in the months of August or September. Still some time away, but not forgotten.
You can count on regular trips to the track. I'll be a little greedy here, but judging by past experiences with TMP/Cayuga (by myself AND others) don't count on it. So far the trend has been that while it is a more expensive and time-consuming journey to St. Thomas it is worth it. IMHO, it's worth the drive to London (sounds like a commercial - LOL!). Plenty of notice will be given so that those that are interested can plan accordingly.
Numerous members have commented on planning an SCCoO Shoot-out event. Perhaps inviting our fellow SCCoA members as well. Possible? Yes. Expensive? Yes. Certain details and limitations might make this a rather difficult 'request' to fullfill, but not impossible. I have alreaady looked into this (baby steps) and from the very beginning I can say $100 each ! That's NOT a quoted figure, but one that would be reasonably accurate. Unlimited track useage comes with a cost.
I think that about wraps it up. I'll post information regarding special events as soon as they become available.
Don't be shy. If you've got an idea or input......give 'er!

Agreed, Paul. I have certainly not forgotten about including the London and Niagara area guys. I was going to see about doing a meet in an area where it's a relatively equal distance for all to travel in an attempt to make it fair. Sunday would be a good day, I was figuring a Saturday evening thing, but that may work out better. I'll see what I can come up with.
Thanks!

SCCOO event day = V6 Ford Challenge :) hehehe

BTW, this years race will most likely be at Grand Bend, St. Thomas has ripped us off to many times, and poor track conditions and he ran the show more then we did in regards to cool down times and what not.

I have contacted a few tracks and so far GB is the best. Never heard back from TMP even though that would be a good track to use as well, track prep is important. We are alos planning on having a banquet after this years race that will include a dinner and trophy ceremony along with the handing out of the prizes. We hope to keep the track and banquet price to around $100, banquet only will be more like $40, still have to confirm a track before we make plans for a banquet. It will most likely be buffet style as well. Stay tuned for more info, Race day again will be near the end of May. Anyone know the actual date of the Carlisle event? I know this has caused a problem in the past but the end of May seems to be the best in regards to all other car events for each car type. As well as availability of track rental and weather (May is cooler)

I think the X-miss Dinner we should go back to the same place it had everthing we need. Good food, easy to get to, kind of in the middle so it's about the same length of drive for all people.

As for a meet in the far West maybe Hooters that Sean was talking about like a saturday after noon around 4 or something and then in to the night.

Jamie, the website shows a date of June 4 - 6 for the 2004 All-Ford Nats at Carlisle.

Grand Bend sounds like a good choice for your event. I've never been at that track myself, but just about everyone I talk to who has been there says it's a great facility. Hopefully we can get a few more SCs and XR7s out for the shooutout, I've been guilty of contributing to the poor MN-12 turnout too.

cheers

Thanks for the info Ed, that helps, I know GB has the last two weekends in May available as of the last time I talked to them, we may try for the US long weekend to help some long dsitance folks make it again like last year. I have guys already wanting to come from alabama this year!!!

Jamie,
Just a heads up I was at grand bend this year and the drive was not fun at all. The main road to get there Highway 81 I think was closed in two places so they take you all over the place on graval roads and one road was just rocks:mad: not nice on your car as well as the exter time to get there. most people comeing would not like to drive along on that kind of stuff. so you might want to find out what the roads are going to be like next year since it looked like the road was going to be closed for some time.

These guys were talking about an MN12-only thing.....hey, not my idea. I think what you guys are doing is great. I'm hoping to at least come out and watch this year. For $100 track and banquet.....that couldn't possibly include having paramedics on-site...does it?! Just curious.

GB is an awfully loooooong drive to go drag racing, isn't it? Just my opinion.

yeah I know thats why I was laughing after I said that.

GB is only 1 hour past St. Thomas, but we gotta make it accessible for our US friends too, so an extra hour drive is not bad if we can get more US cars to attend, rememebr how far they gotta drive. I got confirmation we WILL be having a guy from Texas come this year.

yeah he says he IS coming for sure, he wanted to come this past year but couldn't. We almost had 2 guys come from Alabama last year as well, they may come this year too. For the last 2 years we had a guy from Chicago come, the first year we had a guy from Minnesota who due to engine problems couldn't make it this year, and both years a guy from just outside of NYC came, it was a 11 hour trip for him.
