Alright I'm gonna come right out and say it, i drive a 1998 Grand
Prix GTP, but before you bash on me for posting here please know that i wanted a Super Coupe when i was looking for a car, but insurance was much cheaper for a 4-door gtp. i have since modded my GTP and have won quite a bit of respect around town. Last week i was invited up to a neighboring town to race some kids SC. I laughed and asked what he had for mods and all they said was a CAI and nitrous. I guess the only reason i'm posting this is to find out how fast that SC could potentially be since i hate to lose and haven't lost very often. My mods are as follows:

3.25” SC pulley, 3” dual straight pipes, no “u-bend” or resonator, Custom K&N CAI, DHP PCM, Autolite 104 spark plugs, ported heads, ZZP throttle body, Extrude Honed exhaust manifolds, 24000 GVW Trans. Cooler, synthetic motor and trans. fluid

Best ¼ : 13.641@ 103.2 mph

Any positive feedback would be helpfull....Thanks

I doubt someone would be able to run any decent shot of nitrous with an SC that only had a CAI ... at least more than once... they'd blow the headgaskets...

I see a flame war coming....such as the previous SHOvsSC post

Well it really doesn't matter now. He had a 75 horse shot and some other mods but i totally raped him off the start and it wasn't even close in the end. Nice kid though, and a really sharp car.

My buddy has one, and he gives me a run....I have since done the 300hp kit on my '95 and we are going to run again.....I hate to say it, but those cars are quick. NOT HALF AS COOL AS AN SC THOUGH!!:D

Do you think if I put a blower on my Yugo I can beat an SC too?:D
The word not as cool as the SC sum it up. The GTP is OK for a Sedan, I guess.

Yeah, GTPs are cool, they cant even figure out which way to put the blower on.

Actully I do like GTPs but they kinda blew it by mounting the SC like that, good luck getting and intercooler. And theres something else about them.... now what was it....

Ohhh, I remember, they have the engine in the wrong way, rear wheel drive is where its at.

sorry but i have to call bs, i may be feeding the troll but oh well. He said the SC had a 75 Shot? Cmon no one just throws a 75shot on a completely stock SC. This guy is a bum.

go take the kids to soccer practice in your automatic FWD:rolleyes:

I don't know what he had for other mods all i could see was a CAI plug wires and what looked like some kind of TB spacer, and the Nitrous tank in the trunk. I didn't grill the guy trying to get every detail from him so i could pass it on to you.

oh yeah SC UL8R1990,... "go take the kids to soccer practice in your automatic FWD".... wow that was great , what an original line, especially when your saying it to a single guy.
I have an idea, if your ever in SD why don't you drop me a line i'd love to show ya what the tail-lights of 4- door automatic family sedan look like when im blowing by in the 1/4 mile.

Beware the moderators are watching!!!!!

noV8required, do you have any time slips from a dragstrip!?!?!?

EVERYONE: Please read the BBS rules .....

No flaming and No discussion of illegal activities are allowed.

noV8required, If you would like a chance to prove your cars' performance at the track in front of SC & GTP owners, I suggest you come over to Club Clash VI next spring. We have people that come from KC, St. Paul and all over the Midwest to prove what they can do!

Take it off of the street and put it on paper!

Man, that sounds like alot of fun, and i am definately interested. When and where is Club Clash VI held? What is required to race? Mainly, do i have to be a member of a midwest GTP club? Who do i contact to get registered/signed up?

All that you have to do is show up and bring enough money to get in the gate. This year it was 25.00 for the whole day. The car must also pass safety inspection.

The spring event, (CC6), will be held at TriState Raceway in Earlville, Iowa. (on Highway 20 in Eastern Iowa)

The date has not been set yet, but it will be on a Sunday around the last week of April or the first week of May. When the date is set, it will be posted on our club website and in the Iowa BBS on this site!

There is a lot of info about Club Clash on the IOWA SC website at www.sccoia.org The info about the event and the recaps of the past 5 events are in the "Articles" area of the site.

seems to me a lot of mods for only a mid 13 gtp. ones around here will do high 13's with a pully exhaust and yank the headlight.

Yeah i know the et should be better. That was before the ZZP throtle body, and head port & polish. In the spring im hoping for low 13's after 1.9 ratio Intense rocker arms, smaller pulley(3.0")and a ZZP intercooler this winter. Better tires would definately help too. the previous owner put on a new set of Mastercraft tires right before i bought the car, and they don't exactly hook up.

GTPs are pretty nice cars..my wife has a 99 that is stock except for a slightly smaller supercharger pulley (3.6"). When it was completly stock it ran a best of 14.1 @ 95...this was at an SC meet and several of the SCs at that meet were looking at her taillights going thru the traps.

Generally stock GTPs run high to mid 14s, where a stock SC will run mid to low 15s. There are also freak SCs and GTPs out there that will run a 1/2 second quicker.

How much did it cost to get your exhaust manifolds extrude honed?

It's not about how quick you can make your car, but about which car you choose to make quick. I could build a Pinto that would destroy every Pontiac GTP and Supercoupe in existence, but why would I do that? It would still just be a quick Pinto. The rice boys may give respect to front wheel drive racers, but I never will. No matter how quick or how bad they beat my car. If front wheel drive was acceptable I would just build a 500Hp Focus like MM&FF did and kill every car short of a Mustang that challenged me. I've got a tummy ache now, you guys got me talking about Ponticraps again in our Forums. Damn, now I'm all stressed out.........................:(
