Hey Guys,

I'm looking into a winter beater and i was wondering what you guys think of the Contour SVT. I think its a nice looking car and she's got a little balls in her. I thought i might have to buy something that has a bit of balls to keep up with you guys since i will be storing my SC for a year or 2 to bring her up to par.

Ed,

What is the pricing on parts for this car??? Are we looking at SC expensive or normal expensive for a perforance car?

Thanks,

KEff

Jeff, those are definitely fun cars. I rode with a couple of students at the Shannonville SVTOA event that had them, great little performers. I had looked at them briefly myself before getting the SC, but the SVT model had just come out, no used ones around yet, so too much $$ for me.

The only thing that I would caution you about with these cars is that they seem to be very susceptible to corrosion from the winter conditions we have here and the excessive amount of road salt put down. Many of the components for the Contour / Mystique were designed in Europe (these cars were available over there as a 'Mondeo' about a year before we got them). So you might end with electrical troubles, broken coil springs, and other issues. The Contours and Mystiques have a bunch of open owner notifications related to this, to cover the cost of repairs if a problem does occur ... but some of the programs are time & distance limited.

cheers
