Hi guys/girls, looks like im the new guy here.
I got a little problem with my SC, just hoping you guys can help me out....

I turn my car on this morning. Turn on the defroster and the error E7 shows up where the temp setting would usually be. All that is coming out now is cold air. I found out that E7 means, Blend door cannot calibrate. Possible failure at evaporator assembly or wiring to blend door actuator. Well to me, this doesn't mean a whole lot...Has this ever happened to anyone?? how much did it cost to fix? could you do it yourself?? Any help would be greatly appreciated, normally i would just take my car to get it fixed but being a student now, money is very tight.

thanks for your time

Chris

P.S. if i were to get it fixed, does anyone know a good mechanic in the london area?

I had this problem a few years ago. Since the weather is getting colder you have no choice but to fix it or freeze your Andrew V's off. Your acuator door motor may be the problem .

First repair idea is to reset the code. You can do this by turning the blower up all the way to Hi and press floor . Then press warm and cool for 3 seconds. E7 means that the blend door does not fully calibrate.

If that doesn't work then the door motor will need to be replaced . I think that you can fix it from the glove box.

page 36-75-10 of the 1991 manual.

I had that same problem E7 code, all that was wrong was a 5amp fuse in thefuse box behind the battery under the hood, disconect the negative on the battery for 5 minutes, restarted the car and everything worked fine.Hope your problem is a simple as mine was.

Thanks guys,

It was a lot easier to fix then I thought, and in good time too. It was freezing today. Simply reset the system and the heat started pumping out. I wish all my repairs could be that easy!

Thanks again,

Chris
