I recently acquired & installed a Motorcraft thermostat gasket from Rockauto.com for the 3.8 SC engine; part number RG564. After installing, I noted the interior dimensions of the gasket around the holes seemed to be correct, but the gaskset protuded out of the top from between the housing & intake. It also slightly extended past one other side, aligned with everything else. Could I have recieved the wrong gasket? If so were can I acquire the correct one quickly? Waiting to order is not an option, unfortunatley this also likely excludes my Ford dealer.

Thanks..

As long as the holes lined up and it doesn't leak it will be fine. A lot of gaskets are made slightly bigger and hang out at different spots. The stock water pump gasket does that.

That is the correct gasket. It is unlikely that you will find a better fitting one, unless it was mis-packaged.
