Hey all, I know this subject has been addressed before but I couldn't find the threads, what are the differences between the early and late SC m5r2? I know it is something with the gearing... what are the actual differences you will see in the driving, anything significant?

Thanks,
Paul

Thanks... so that means that the gearing in the 89-93 is more aggressive?

Correct. 3.08s seem to be perfect rear gears for the early M5R2 while 3.27s seem to be perfect for the later tranny.

There is not that much difference. I would chose rear end gears based on the desired final drive ratio rather than having anything to do with the first 3. I have raced my car with both. I prefer the 95 gears, but I ran 3.55's with the early style tranny and plan up going up to 3.27's now that I have the 95 tranny. We have so much torque that I don't think you can have too tall of a first gear. I am more concerned with highway cruise rpms.

If I didn't plan to drag race the car occasionally I'd go with 3.08's.
