Okay, I haven't taken posession yet (picking it up Tuesday, hopefully), but I can't containg my urge to post anymore.
I'm getting a '95 SC 5 speed that I actually found through this forum. The car's in good shape with many mods already done. Picture below.
I have a couple questions to start off that I'll just post here for now. Once I get the car and get my hands on it, I'm sure I'll have many, many more!
1 - I see aftermarket hoods for 89-93 Birds, but none for 94-95. Are there any? I'm not totally happy with the design of the intake and my gut feeling is to replace the hood.
2. The car is coming with 3.27 rear gears (not installed). This seems like a no-brainer replacement, but I haven't seen all that many people talking about it. How happy are those of you who've made this change?
Thanks! Looking forward to becoming part of the SC community. I'm selling my rx7 and never really got involved in that community because I knew I wouldn't have the car long. Planning to run the SC until the wheels fall off, so I'm hoping to be around here quite a while. http://members.fortunecity.com/rock5/sunglasses.gif
BTW, I'm out of York, PA, so will have to check into the MidAtlantic group.

Welcome rock5, as for your questions, I would suggest doing searches on them and reading the Faq forums before posting a question. You will get a lot of answers that way. I would also suggest becoming a member. There are alot of forums inaccessable to non-members that you would find interesting and helpful. By just being a registered user you are limited to the tech and non-tech forums, therefore you are missing out on a lot of other useful and helpful information. Just my .02. Anyway, looks like a nice car, congrats, and hope you stay with it.

Thanks for the responses. I've actually dug up some info on using 3.27 gears. However, I still haven't found 94-95 induction hoods.
I'll look into becoming a member, once I actually take possession :)

Wish I could help you there but I own a '90 so I have never had to look for them. Post that question in the non-tech forum. Good luck:D

Congrats on the purchase, from a fellow 95 5-speed owner. :)
There are definitely aftermarket hoods for the 94 - 95 style available, I have seen cars with them installed. As Darkside suggested, throw up a post on the Non-Tech board.
3.27 gears are a nice compromise to go with the 94 - 95 trans. ratios. First gear isn't too short, and fifth becomes much more useful ... you can actually accelerate in fifth, rather than having to pull it back to fourth gear. And it doesn't change the top speed, as the motor won't reach anywhere near redline in fifth with the stock gears, not enough HP.
cheers

Ed I never have really talked with oy about the 3:27's in the 95. I forgot you have them. Maybe one thing down the road.
You will ove the car. 1 of very few build, take care of her. Fun car to own, and show off. Lots of free info out here on the board for you to use.

I dont think you will find a "force" or RAM air hood. There will not be anything out there for it. If you do a search for RAM air, you will see what I mean.
I have some seats for that car if your have rips...LOL(I do but the shipping would kill ya...)
Good luck in the future with this car and enjot it.

Yeah, that's what I'm discovering. I've found a few pictures of people placing a scoop down under the fog lights that I might look into more carefully. Right now, the box just hovers over an open section in the engine bay. Maybe some good air gets in there while driving, but it seems like it might be pulling a lot of warmth.

Thanks, but there's only some minor seam damage to the back seats.
Picking it up tomorrow.... :o

There are ram air hoods for 96-97 t-birds that you can use. I forget what all has to be changed, headlights and not sure what else. A guy around my area did it and it looks really sharpe. You can try a search for Dale Puumala. Hope that is spelled correctly.

Yes! I just picked it up and drove it home on the turnpike. Nice car on the highway, but it really needs those 3.27 gears - only 1800 rpm cruising?? http://members.fortunecity.com/rock5/ermm.gif
I've got a question about a tight shifter and having problems getting into first gear at a stop, but I've got some more driving around to do before I have enough details.
Glad my first experience lived up to the expectations....

If I could do it again since I do highway driving often, I would have when with 3.08! I don't really care for the engine to be running at 2800rpm at 80mph~

Compared to my RX7, which has a 4.1 rear end, that would be pretty nice, actually.
At this point, 5th gear is almost useless. I don't even shift into 4th until 55mph. So unless I'm on the highway, this might as well be a 4 speed.

Just wonder what interior color you have and if it is all leather or cloth sections? There were 2 tan looking colors. I will have to look mine up tomorrow. Below is my first bought new as a company car. Now I own, so only driver. It had front floor mats as only option, which they all came with.
I hope to put a 96-97 hood on mine like Fast Ed N did. Some pics of his car look the best.
Also welcome to stiff shifting tranny:D:D But if you get on a road race course you don't notice.:)

I will need to find out more about the interior color too. I didn't know there were two different tans.
Mine is all leather, but two seams in the back are ripped a bit. The leather isn't ripped -- just the thread. So it might be fixable without much effort. However, I was thinking about searching for the rear seats in tan leather. If there are two tans, though....

Mocha is probably what you have. It is on mine. It is in the dealer brochure. However, I was looking to buy an SC in '96 when I found some 95 SCs built in July 15ish with '96 paint. Those were at a Ft. Worth dealer and Auto tranny. My car was built June 15 95 and I recall July 15ish was about the last date.
At the Houston dealer that had 2, 95-5spd SCs painted this non-red Electric Red we have, each car had a different color tan. My no-option 95-5 had Mocha. I don't remember what the other one had, as I was not interested in that car because it had additional options. I wanted one as striped as possible. The other one sold by the time I bought mine 2-23-96. I distinctly remember looking at the 2 interior colors as they were different with a different name.
I was just curious if our cars were the same. I don't like leather but I did want that fold down back seat for this big display case I carry sometimes.
The older model front seats, you will read, are more comfortable and the side bolsters better. I fully agree as I have had both on a road race track and I am hanging on to wheel in 95 to hold myself up, or drive with one arm and brace myself with the other. The old seats actually hold you up in a corner.
