Dan's, Bryan's, and mine are here. Jeremy's was mailed out on the 5th, so it should be here probably on Monday. Rich's will be a few more days than that.

They are super-light. I picked up all three boxes and was amazed at how light they were. Now I can't wait to get it in!

I also got my new boost gauge yesterday!

Whoo-Hoo! Early Xmas gifts to ourselves...

JJ, I just spoke to RJ on the phone and we're gonna try and hook up for dinner etc. when we can get down there sometime in the next 2 weeks or so. Let RJ know when his comes in and that way we can plan ahead to meet you somewhere near you to grab them.

It may be tough to synch up everyone's schedules to meet, but if you let us know when it's best for you we can try and work around that. TTYS

Thanks:p

Dan, I'll be in New Smyrna on Tuesday and Wednesday if you want to meet up in Daytona for dinner or something. Otherwise, dinner in the next few weeks sounds fine. Maybe we can get Bryan to come on down too?

Whoo Hoo !!!!:D :D :D :D More presents for the SC. My car isn't going to know what to do with all of this new stuff.

I would like to get together one day this coming week if possible. I'll be on that side of the state Tuesday evening on my way to Ft. Lauderdale and then on Wednesday or Thursday afternoon/evening on my way back home. Lets see what we can work out.

I'll probably be working all day Thursday at the restaurant. You could drop by if you want, I could bring the pulley with me. No biggie. I'll be in NSB Tuesday and Wednesday all day. I'm pulling full time this week. I'll try to work something out by Monday for you Bryan.

Dan, let me know what's up. I'm driving to NSB on Monday night late, so I'll be good to go on Tuesday or Wednesday.

Even if RJ can't do Tuesday eve, I'll meet you. I have to drop something off to my friend Kev ( in Edgewater) sometime this week anyway, so I can kill 2 birds with one stone this way.

P.S. Bryan, did you get my PM regarding my old AOD?

Well I don't know if I can make the dinner engagement on Wednesday evening. I may very well still be in Ft. Lauderdale. But if I don't return to Orlando until Thursday, I may get with Jeremy at his place of employment to pick it up. And if that doesn't work out there is always next Saturday. I'm not too concerned.

Dan... I haven’t received any new PM's from you regarding the AOD. But I’m still interested.

K, well, I sent you a PM recently but I guess it didn't make it through the system for some reason, anyway...
Sorry to do it but I decided I need to keep it as a spare and have someone rebuild it. I had to call Lentech about the 1st gear feel on the Street Terminator, I guess related to the non-locking nature or valve body, I don't know really, he was talking technical stuff over my head. Kurt K's car did the same thing, so It probably IS normal, but I don't really dig it as it makes the car's launch weaker than a normal AODs is. Len says if It was a problem it would have gotten worse , but it hasn't, so...

I just hated to tell you but I may want to get it out of the car eventually, and just put my old rebuilt in. I will get a local shop to check things out on the Lentech and see if something isn't right with the TV cable or valve body etc. I really like the Lentech in so many other ways, but I'm not sure what I will do in the future and want a back up plan.

Sorry to dissappoint. TTYS

Bryan, I will not be able to post for the next two days since I will be in New Smyrna. I'll PM you my phone number to call me with a time when you're coming up on Thursday. Hopefully, I will not be working, but that is not likely.

The restaurant's name is Pane E Vino. Once you get off I-95 at the Melbourne exit (SR-192), you follow that straight for about 3.2 miles, you will come to Evans/Hollywood Rd (you'll turn left onto Evans). There is a TGIFridays on the left corner, so you will not miss the turn. Follow that to the second light (Hibiscus St), and turn into the big plaza that will be on the corner/left-hand side. We're the only Italian restaurant in there.

Jeremy... Got you PM and will call you Wednesday afternoon. I should be returning from Ft. Lauderdale Thursday afternoon.

Dan... No problem on the old AOD. I will keep an ear out for another. You may want to consider having your old AOD rebuilt by the Ford Shoppe here in Maitland. Alan did my tranny and it is absolutely awesome!:D He did many of the upgrades that Len does with the exception of the non-locking torque converter. By the way the problem you feel in 1st should not be related to the non-locking aspect of the TQ. The non-locking TQ only applies to 3rd and 4th gears. In a factory type TQ 3rd and 4th gears are direct drive. There is no fluid coupling whereas the Lectech has the fluid coupling. Len uses that fluid coupling to lessen the impact on the input shaft during the 2 to 3 shift from high HP/Torque engines. Anyway next time we get together with the cars you can take mine for a spin if you want. Well that is enough of my rambling.

Thanks for understanding Bryan.

I will bend your ear about the guy that did your rebuild.

From what Len was saying, it's likely the valve body and how it's pressure modulated that causes the feeling I get, and since Kurt had the Lentech VB in his and had the same feeling I guess it's normal for it.

Yes, I'll have you drive it next meet.

Hey Bryan, if you don't mind me asking openly here how much did the rebuild set you back... I'm looking at three autos that need rebuilt now, I'm going to be able to by a new car by the time these damn things get done breaking on me...

Wow! RJ your looking at a pile of money to rebuild all of those tranny's. I would have to check with Alan on price on a standard rebuild vs. what he did to mine. He may be able to give you a bulk rate.

Dan... I also have the Lentech Street Terminator valve body. I absolutely love the manual shifting along with the electronic overdrive delete. Some of the upgrades I had done to my tranny are: all clutch packs have the maximum number of clutch disks and friction plates which also requires some machine work to allow this, all clutches and OD band have the Dynax friction surfaces, 2" OD band and OD drum from the AODE, the mechanical diode also from the AODE, all upgraded servos and accumulator, Dayco flame brazed torque converter with a slightly higher stall speed. Plus some additional parts from the AODE. You could test drive mine to compare it to yours.

I suspect that Dan's stall is a little higher than yours is, and that's what Dan is feeling. Although, I haven't driven Dan's car to see if it feels the same as mine, he has driven mine (so Dan should already know the answer :p )

I don't know when I will be returning to Florida so we can test this theory. However Dan, the WFC is in St. Louis again this year and your welcome stay at my place if you're up to the trip--we can test drive each other's cars then. Otherwise, maybe Carlisle?

onequiksc
12-17-2003, 12:28 PM
Kurt, I will be in Carlisle, with Teri. We're turning it into a 10 day vacation with a stopover on the way back down for 2-3 days in the mountains, either in the Blue Ridge or Smokies. I can't do St Louis this year. If anyone wants to join us in a chalet @ 4000 ft. with a 3 state view just after Carlisle, speak up!

You're the first one to mention the stall on my tranny, that's interesting... I can tell you that when I load the tranny up by brake torqueing it, I don't get it. I don't know how telling that is. I am far from knowledgeable about the AOD's.

AFAIK, yes.

Dan, I don't recall the "feeling" of the stall while brake torquing, but I do remember the feeling while driving on the highway. When cruising down the highway around 65-70 mph, try accelerating w/o downshifting. What rpm does the engine "flash" to before your car really starts accelerating. Mine usually shoots up to 2800-3000 rpms before it really starts to pull. Of course I'm making a little more power than you. I don't think yours should be that high. If it is, maybe you've got the wrong stall for your car.

Jeremy, I've got your pulley. I will ship it whenever I'm not working all freaking day. I hope to get it out by tomorrow, or else it will be the beginning of next week sometime... Can you send me your address and pertinent info?

Thanks,
JJ
