hey..

i changed the brake pads and rotors on my fiance's '92 Cavalier a couple of months ago, and afterwards, it seemed they were sticking (when you'd come to a complete stop, if you took your foot off the brake, the car wouldn't go anywhere at first, then would slowly begin to move). i put it on my infamous 'list of things to do' but never really got to checking into it. yesterday, she said she started driving and the brakes were grinding and she was having difficulty steering (?). went out to check them out when i got home, sure enough, one rotor was scored notably and the brake pad was worn much more than it should have been.

so, my question is, if i replace the pads and the one rotor again, is it just going to do the same thing over? does the caliper need to be replaced? is there something i may have neglected to do when i changed the pads and rotors that would have caused this to happen?

i'm not really that great with brakes, i've changed mine on the t-bird a few times without any problems, but i'm sure i could have done something wrong..

i appreciate any help,
-chris

Sounds like you have a "sticking piston" in the caliper. Remove the caliper from the mount and pop the pads off. Have someone depress the brake pedal and you should be able to see the piston move in & out. If it doesn't, get it rebuilt or replace it.
