Heard somewhere that SC's originally came with a cast crank, and developed alot of problems since it couldnt hold up to the power. When did they stop producing the cast cranks and switch to forged?
ive got a 90 SC, im a bit curious:eek:

The original spec for the SC was a DURAcast crankshaft. A special casting process to give near to forged strength.
Ford was never able to get high enough yeild of quality product from their suppliers. Thus the switch to a Fully Forged part in production. It's possible that some very early 89 SC motors may have left the factory with Duracast cranks.

wow , pretty interesting, thatd be sweet to find a mint low mile 89 sc with a duracast crank. Maybe itll be a collector?:confused: :confused: :confused:
