Hey guys....I'm trying to get my exhaust done here (San Diego). I'm trying for true dual 2 1/2" all the way back. I went by a place in Poway today who REFUSED to do a true dual and wanted me to pay over $1000 for something I didn't want.

I'll even drive to LA if I can get a good deal on a TRUE DUAL exhaust setup!

HELP!

TBK I posted some numbers for some exhaust shops down my way in the tech forum. Hope this helps. Alex would probably do it too. Ed Hanson's may try to talk you out of it, but both know their stuff.

Just wondering: Why would he try and talk me out of it? It's a sound setup. Lots of people use it and it's good for heavy mods in the future.

I might have to do that. I'm not wanting to make it illeagle....just what I want! I mean how hard is it to make true duals w/cats for this thing! I could do it in a weekend in someone's backyard who had a welder! oh well.

If you know of any place that'll do it (for under $400...I've seen it done many times on this board) then when I come up on the 21st I'll bring the dough! :-)

P.S. - I don't wanna die while getting my car's exhaust done either! LOL

bwahahahahahah

hahaha

no u wont get killed, and as ong as u have the hardware they will lay pipe in pretty cheap

hehe i said lay pipe

they put in my two mufflers in for 20 bucks each and they said if i get the silencer they can do it for about 15 bucks
thatsusing steel tho

i figure later when i get the hi flo cats, i can get them to use stainless for the down tubes then maybe the center pipe and finally the rest if i go true dual myself

ps my cousin got quoted 350 for a catbacl on his silverado, one muffler two outs, 2 tips

That's not a bad price at all.

I guess I'll try and find the dynomax mufflers that I want and super-high-flow cats. Then, hopefully, they'll lay the duals from the headers back. I would need a I wonder how much it would be for stainless or aluminized.

actually we ended up getting a cheaper price if we bought the muffler at PAW (Performance Automotive Warehouse, if you don't know what it is you should take a spin to their showroom, its in Chattsworth but definitely worththe drive) and buying the muffler shops tips and it was more like $280 ish but using steel. Aluminized steel will obviously cost more.

Well, it's not like you have to worry too much about mild steel around here. Sure, it'll rust out eventually, but it's not like road-salt is a BIG concern! (Ocean, now that's a different story).

I've never been to any type of 'performance' shop before in California. I would LOVE to go to a place and be able to look at performance mufflers. Hopefully they have cutaways (or at least images of them) so I can check them out and see if it's the design I'm wanting.

I found a few on www.summitracing.com that looked pretty good.....but it's offset in, center out. I was wanting offsets in/out and the offsets on the SAME side of the muffler (less bends on the install).

Anyway, hopefully i'll have the vibration fixed so I can come up on the 21st....if we have time, we might drop by a place or two if you don't mind.

well PAW is the biggest i know, they have a huuuuuge 1300 page catalog with lots of goddies in there, i literally sit in the office for hours looking at it when it gets slow around here

you can get a flowmaster anyway you like

i messed up and bout center in center out...and the shop was STILL able to use em, but they have offset on both ends on the same side, offset criss crossed, center offset etc

if u come to irwindale, you could probably go, they are open sudnays even

Hey,
A&A mufflers did my true dual setup for my 92 T-bird. I used 2.25" pipe though. It turned out well, and the owner is a great guy. His name is Muffler Bob. Yes, I'm serious, it's what he likes to be called...oh yeah A&A mufflers is in Poway near Garden Road where all the body shops are.
