I'm doing a head job and a mechanic friend told me I would need an angle meter for this. Does anyone know about this? Can it be done without an angle meter???

Thanks,

David

Torque to yield headbolts

You need an angle gauge adapter for the wrench you use to tighten the headbolts. First torque each headbolt IN SEQUENCE to 48-55 ft.lbs. Then using the angle gauge adapter tighten each headbolt IN SEQUENCE 90 to 110 degrees farther. It is critical to have the bolts tighten evenly so I wouldn't rely on any other visual method of determining the degrees. I have seen these gauges on ebay inexpensively. Use only new headbolts, they're one time use only. John

Something you need to do the job right. you should be able to find one at Sears or any other good tool store.

I think it's well worth the $80 for ARP head studs, they are much stronger than the stock style bolts, plus you don't need to worry about using the torque angle method...
