My newly rebuilt tranny is leaking fluid from where the dipstick tube goes into the tranny. i've moved out of state so i can't just bring it back to the shop i got it rebuilt at. i am willing to fix it myself but i need to know how hard it is before i go getting into it. it looks kinda tight by the pass. side cat. do i need to lower the exhaust to get at it? thanks for any info.

Should be one bolt you need to remove from the bellhousing-motor and the tube should be loss if not there there should be some place that it bolts up to. Then you need to pull it out some and there should be an O-ring on the end that will need to be changed.
I have never done this on an SC but have on other fords.

I did it on my 89. Its just as Jason posted. WHen I did this i posted the inner diameter and outer diameter and even the part number for the O ring that I used so people could see it as reference. I got mine from the old 'track auto' around here...those stores are the ones taht converted to Advanced Auto so they should have ti also.
