Ever since I drove through some deep water like a month or so ago i've been getting this intermittent ticking/tapping noise from the engine area. Sometimes faint, sometimes not so faint.
I checked the valve train and that wasnt it. Checked the pulleys and the dustshield on the flywheel and no dice.
I ended up dropping the oil pan and checking the rod bearings, they were ALL fine but i changed them anyway and I checked the bottom 1/2 of main bearings and all was in order. I retorqued everything, bolted it all back up and the noise was still there.
Its getting too damn cold to be poking around aimlessly out there what are you guys thinking?
Here are a couple of vids from the other day that show what i'm talking about (all 400-800KB each)
No noise run to 40mph: http://ruffryde.rapperdmx.com/videos/scrr-firstgear-outside.mpg
Noise after coming to a stop :

Same noise right after startup that fades away, comes and goes at random:

One of the supercoupe guys with a Taurus has seen this exact same problem before and it turned out to be something with the transmission (which has been dying slowly for years)
Help I'm lost here,
thanks,
DMX

X, its your transmission pump, or related tq converter parts. I've seen/heard that on a sable before, that exact same sound.
The pressure riser you are using causes excessive wear on it, and I think that's why they go out.
