I can send out emails but all I get is a higher number for how many emails to be downloaded. But nothing happens. The number keeps going up. I have some important work email to get and work on.
I had this problem once before and sent myself an email and it cleared up. Now nothing I can think of helps.
Any ideas?
Desperate.
Check this:
tools/message rules/blocked sender list..clear the list.
Once I had that same thing. I had accidentally marked someone(a few, really) "block sender". The email remained on the bellsouth server, but OE was instructed not to download. So, they were always there building up but not downloading. Clear your list. If you can pull up your email on a web based form, like mine with Bellsouth, pull it up like that and check to see if you have a bunch of build up emails that are blocked.

Thanks Bill. Nothing there.
I got most of it on another laptop then the modem crashed and locks up everytime I try again. Heck of a day. Like our high tech cars. So frustrating. Wish I could put a new set of points in this thing:D :D

Did you try updating your Outlook or try using Outlook Express? Also, some ISPs give you web mail access... its usually a link off of their web site.
good luck with it.

McAfee has a problem with XP. Tried all day to do various fixes they provided. Just uninstalled McAfee and problem gone.
I guess the cure is worse than the bug.
Did the rejected emails have attachments? Maybe it was kicking them back for that? Or HTML emails rejected?

Maybe the server is full and can't hold anymore mail until you clear some out. On a side note, I tried emailing Jacob and it came back saying it couldn't be delivered. I tried a second time and had the same problem.
Good luck with your mail.

Well another computer did take the email. But I left it on server as I catalog on the main one. It was McAfee. I have an old lap top it ruined. Soon as I deleted them it worked fine. They have a problem of compatibility and a work around.
I will let Jake know. Since he is not at school maybe the email droped off. I will get him an account. Would like to get him out to what we are talking about in the 2-04-04 posts on this link. Your welcome to. Got a reunion that Sunday so lots of driving. Thanks!!

Hey Doug,
With McAfee, sometimes you have to update the virus engine along with the signature file. If you check their website you may see what is called a SuperDat file, which is the packaged engine update and current signature file. That may fix your problem.
Is your PC's release of McAfee their most current version?
I have found McAfee to be more tempermental and high touch as opposed to Symantec (Norton), which seems to be better behaved.
Regardless, you'll want to get some form of AV protection in place.
Hope that helps. . . .

I have this McAfee online thing with auto updates. I got it because I thoguht the software would NOT be in my laptop. WRONG. So when this subscription runs out I plan on trying Norton. McAfee is dificult and like so many programs it wants to run your computer. I had hoped the on-line thing was something to scan fix, then leave me alone untill I ask for it again. Boy what a bother. Nothing is easy.

so you're the kind of people that phone into harass me about your email not working with your third party programs (aka outlook and outlook express) lol.
I always have to troubleshoot them...people tell me they've been working fine for months and suddently they're not connecting to the mail server so it's automatically my fault. I rebuilt their acct with them in OE or Outlook to make sure settings are correct, then we do a test email thru OE or outlook and thru webmail, the one thru webmail always works and outlook will normally send out, but never receive the email. I get the error from the customer that they're getting and let them know the only 2 things according to microsoft (creator of program) that'll create this error number are email settings (which we just rebuilt) and firewall software....namely Mcafee and more so Norton which i've come to dislike heh!
Well apparenlty the customer knows best cause a computer would never change anything on it's own. Then i gotta try and convince them yes it can. We've checked every other option....the only part of their email not working is them connecting to the server. God forbid me who does it every day, know more than the 70yo lady on the phone who says a computer won't change anything ever at all unless it's told (as if drivers don't go corrupt daily or firewalls doing all sorts of strange stuff or routers mysteriously one day not functioning properly)
But yeah anywho...i'm at work and i just had some old lady tell me the above lol and she wouldn't listen to me...so i told her to use webmail....it works....her third party program doesn't...not my problem if you don't wanna listen, go talk to microsoft about why it won't work, and they'll tell ya the same stuff - she hung up lol
