Hey guys, i just wanted to get an idea here. Im having my exhaust done by a shop who said they can also install a fuel pump (since exhaust will be down anyway), but i never got a price on the fuel pump, i was just wondering about how much it should be, and how long it takes to do...id do it myself, but id find a way to screw it up. thanks

Fuel pump kit will cost about $100.00 give or take a few bucks depending on the lph capacity. If you have 100,000 miles or more on the car it would be a wise investment. Stock or a few mods go with 190lph. If you plan on major power upgrade in the future to with 255lph. Worth it for them to do it if they don't gouge you for labor.

.

well i already have the pump, which did cost me about 100 bucks, i was just asking how much a place would charge to install it. sorry if that was confusing, and i am going with the 190. thanks-

If the place that's doing your exhaust is offering to do it while the exhaust is off the car, I would only expect to pay 1 hour labor at their shop rate. They won't even need to completely drop the tank because all that's needed is to take the straps loose at the rear of the tank and drop the rear of the tank down just far enough to access the fuel pump/sender unit. Take the unit out, r & r the fuel pump on the sender, put it back in. Strap the tank up and it's done.

Sometimes they try to pull a quick one on you. They will have them as separate charges.

Sometimes they will not let you bring the part in. If you do, they usually wont warranty their work.

Since your getting a new exhaust, It should be easier to unbolt after the resonator, Then the exhaust will be away from the tank.

pump

i did a fuel pump a few years back and im sure you have to drop the exshause and the drive shaff the drive shaff goes under the fuel tank so to drop it you need to get it off but maybe you got a trick i dont but it was like 4 or 5 years ago .maybe im wrong

Incorrect EscortGT - The driveshaft is above the gas tank, and the exhaust will already be down because he's having it replaced.
