hey guys i have a 89sc and our cars redline at 5000rpm than why does the car shutdown at 6500rpm and not more like 5500?

What do you mean by the car shuts down at 6500rpm? I would figure at that rpm the computer shutting the fuel pump off would be at your least of conserns. By the way, a stock SC stops making power at 4600-4800rpm so there is no real reason to take it past 5000rpm unless your motor is built for it. Just my .02

i know that its useless to pump it past redline. but im just wondering why the car would shutdown at 6500rpm which is 1500rpm past redline instead of shutting down at like 5500rpm
i think going up to 6500rpm would make quite some damage to engine

That it would do some major damage to the motor. Its probably just one of those weird Ford things.
