Yeah, just like the subject says my supercoupe was stolen yesterday morning. I live in Amarillo, Texas and currently rent an apt. , so here's the story:
I went out to my car to start it so it could warm up and defrost the windshield a little, and then I went back in to brush my teeth, while I was brushing my teeth I heard my car rev up and take off, so I ran out and there it was hauling azz down the street; I called the cops and they came, got all the info and told me they would call me IF they found the car. I've lived in this area of Amarillo for 9 months and I always start my car in the mornings, and so do the neighbors and never had any kind of crap like this. Anyway, It is 34 hours now since it was stolen and i still don't have any info of where it is. The car is an 89 SC, looks like a 35th anniversary(I made it look that way) the front bumper is all black(It is not silver on the bottom of the front bumper), front right fender is bent in a little by the headlight,
has a cell phone antenna on the back window, the windshield is cracked, is a 5 speed, has Oklahoma tag CMK 981.
If any of you peeps out there see it please don't hessitate to give me a call at 806-231-0239 or call ur local police dept.
Thank you all very much!!

im sorry to hear that, i would not be able to control myself if that ever happened to me, im always worried someone is just gonna walk by my car and drag a key across it, or just break a window for the hell of it. I live in austin, ill definitely keep on the look out in case he/she passes through here! Ive only seen about two 35th looking SC's around here in 3 years, easy to spot em--- let us know if anyhtign happens.

 .
Not to seem like a smart ***, cause I feel for you and all, but when you get her back, make an extra set of keys. I start my car up and go inside while it warms up too, but before I LOCK my doors and go back inside, I make sure I have my original in hand. When car is warm I unlock with original and put in my pocket.
I hope they catch that SOB! I'd probably do something stupid to him too. Keep an eye on E-Bay in case they try parting it out or the local paper if they try to sell it. Sounds like it is going to stick out like a sore thumb. I'm sure all the OK and TX SC'ers will keep an eye out for it. Good luck finding her....
PS. As GreatWhite said: Let us know if anything happens. Wouldn't want a fellow SC'er beating the crud out of you, thinking you are the booster if you don't do a follow up post if you get it back..:(

god damn mutha *&@^er's dude that royal bites the big one however it is illegal to leave ur car running unattended in the lone star state but that is still BS if ain't yours don't touch the damn thing hope u get that thing back in one piece the sad truth is that if an individual decides to flee from the cops it will usually end up in a wreck or (which is rare but not down here) the vehicle will be across the border before u can say chimichanga............now that is wut i'm scared of  :(

I dont know much about the car theft rate in Texas but in Indiana its not high at all but I still wouldnt leave my car started and unlocked. And I live out in the country 10acres away from any neighbors.
But good luck finding it, hopefully they didnt trash it. Got any pix you can post for other Texas sc owners to be able to spot it easier?

I wanna thank all of you for helping me out on this; You all are alot of help. I know it wasn't very smart to leave it running unattended, but I mean what's wrong with some people? I would never touch anybodys car. And the detective I talked to said that even if you lock the car when running, the scumbag will break a window and take it.
Yeah, I guess he had good taste to pick my car out of all the ones that were started that morning; the neighbors said they had theirs started at that same time my car was stolen. I guess he liked the bad azz looking SC:D he/she did a major burn out while taking off, Imean MAJOR like I've never done before; that makes me so mad, I sweat everytime I think about it
Oh yeah, no word yet about it.

In fact, I catch license plates of anyone "cruising" the alley ways in skank cars when I don't recognize them. Especially if they drive through w/o pullling in.
I'll definitely keep an eye peeled for a 35th w/Okl plates. But Big "D" is big. I hardly ever see any other SCs.

Will watch out for it between Houston and Galveston. Mardi Gras starts this weekend. Fortunately and SC sticks out easily to the trained eye.
Were there any witnesses? Sounds like somebody had been scoping things out, especially if early morning.
Worst place seems to be convenience stores, where people run in for "just a minute". It's amazing how fast one can be stolen. How many times have you heard the story about the parent that went into the "quick stop" shop, left their child in the car with it running and the bandit takes off with car and child.
I remember once while fueling my car, some yahoo's pulled up to the store, jumped out, left the doors wide OPEN and car RUNNING. It was a nice car too. Theirs didn't get stolen, but they sure made it a HUGE invitation to do so. I thought about moving their car to the back of the store to teach 'em a lesson, but decided it wasn't worth the risk. They sure stayed in store long enough to have it stolen.
Good luck on the safe return of your SC.

Nobody saw anything.
My boss saw one 35th anniverssary yesterday he got the license #
I called the detective and he scanned it and it came back as 1990 ford thunderbird; I guess that wasn't it:( did only the SC come out as 35th option( Imean the color and wheels) or most 90 come out tha way?

90 is the year the most sc's were produced by far. There are many reg single color ones and a small num of annaversery edditions. I saw a list of how many there are somewhere on here but cant seem to find it. They are way rarer than reg 90's or even other years. I hope you get your car back all legit. good luck. Zach

Yea, talk about being rare. Ive only seen 1 Tbrid sc ever in my life!!! It is harder then hell to find an SC around here, Best bet would be to look on ebay for one, or go to the junkyard and find one with blown headgaskets. Thats how rare they are around here!!!!

I couldn't imagine what would happen to the guy if it were me and I caught him. Or her, have to be fair, however unlikely.
Anyhoo, I have done the same stuff in the past, but with one difference, I have the keypad entry system from Ford. So I can start it, get out, lock the doors and then punch the code to open them back up. Plus, if you try to open it without the code, even with the key, it will go off and set the kill switch. Pisses the Wal Mart guys off when I forget to tell them the code to open the door when I get my oil changed.
Best of luck, man. Keep us updated.

I personally call it my...Ford Factory Alarm. If it's been worked on custom, the previous owner must have done it. My Dad set it off one morning when he had to move my car at 6am. As soon as it went off I woke up freaked out only to look out the window to see my dad cussing at my car in the driveway.

Reading this thread makes me so mad at thieves. I hope that person gets caught and finds a nice "friend" that will take care of them in prison. I have had my motorcycle stolen right out of my garage between 5 and 9 pm in a neighborhood with me and my family at home at the time. Yes the keys were in it, but it's my garage! You wouldn't think anyone could really see in it with no lights on and the sun out. Anyway, the police found it two days later on it's kick stand and I still own it to this day. The funny/scary thing was is that my SC was parked right next to my motorcycle with the keys in it! Thank god they didn't take it! Anyway, now I leave the keys in the house! But, what makes me the most upset is that if I'm outside doing yard work and I have to move my motorcycle and/or my SC, I have to go inside to get the keys. I would love to catch up with the person who did it and them not know that I know who they are. I would have so much fun with that one! Anyway, sorry to hear about your car. Those out there who do stuff like that WILL get what's coming to them!

My alarm system ame with a remote starter. You can probably have one one installed for about $150. With the remote starter the car will shut off if the ignition isn't unlocked and any of the pedals are touched. When ever I go into a store I just turn her off, set the alarm (it locks the doors also) then start her up with the remote. Btw the alarm is also set up to lock the doors every time the car starts up.
Also if you don't mind giving it out, it could be easier to find on ebay if you give us the vin#. Especially if they did a paint job. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=6240&item=2460435175
Like this one. It just got a new skin. It's listed as a 90, maybe bc of the paint they didn't know it was an 89.

Ok, VIN is : 1FAPP64R1KH182761
and, I also forgot to mention that it has a 145 MPH speedo, that I installed about a year ago and it only had 1770 miles on it. I only drove my SC around 2500 miles per year, it wasn't a daily driver; it was stored, but since we were having good weather last week I decided to drive it because I could not wait for summer( I MISSED IT):D I guess just plain bad luck; that's why I don't think anybody new it was gonna be out that day; My theory is that some dumb a$$ was walking by and took it; it could have been my truck instead. JUST PLAIN BAD LUCK:(

Well sorry for not respopnding, or posting pics of the car today, but we were really busy at the shop and I didn't have time to get on the internet. I will take some pics monday and I'll try to post them and if I can't figure out how to post pics, I'm gonna have to email them to somebody so they can.
So, the police calls me yesterday around 1:30 p.m. saying that they found my car, but it wasn't in a very good shape; I go overthere and there's detectives, sheriff, APD, and I was like wow they had to do something else besides stealing my car, and sure enough the sheriff deparment were searching the house for something else and they found the car in the garage all taken apart, so they informed the Police dept. to see if it was a stolen car. Whoever it was is in big trouble' the weird thing is that they found somebody in the house, but they didn't arrest them, and they wouldn't tell me who it was. The detective called me today and he said that they're working on it and there is quite a few people invloved in this; I'm gonna have to go to the detectives office monday, and I guess they're going to interview me, or something like that; He also said for me to not say anything to anybody about it, and that I was gonna be really surprised when I found out who it was:confused: (I think I know) Not sure though I guess I'll just wait and see what happens, but if it is who I think it is, HE'S GOING DOWN:mad:

Sorry to hear about that!!! Don't you have the keyless entry keypad thing on the door? I use that everyday when I start my car and let it warm up, I know that isn't a major deturrant when the car is running, but it still would make them have to rethink their plans if they thought the car was unlocked!? Here in Kansas, it is only illegal to have the car running while unattended if the doors are unlocked I think :S lol To many laws, I think they need a law against stupid people that take cars anyways!!!! Don't worry though, it happens to the best of everyone, I'll look for hte post on the USACi forums from this past years World Bass Competition in KC. An over $150,000 Show Civic was stolen from a hotel parking lot. The theives broke into the truck and drove away w/ the trailer which had the Civic in it, along with MUCHAS tools, parts, electronics, etc. They happened to find it in time before they salvaged the custom car, but it still shows that it happens to even the best of people. Good luck again!!!!! If you do find them/him/it/the thief give him a whack from me too!!!!

Ya know, I was thinking that this was a SC specific "hit" as it were. Just something about the way it was done made me think that your car was targeted because of what it was, not just opportunity.
And it was probably the attempted sale of those parts that got the guy busted. I think it would be pretty obvious that having an SC stolen and then within a week a bunch of SC parts are for sale that the two would likely be related. Hell, that was probably the first thing the cops checked for.

I don't know if they caught the guy yet, but IF they don't I will; I know who it is for sure and his buddies that helped are in my target as well. I'm really mad at the moment, plus my g/f is a......................She's no support at all; maybe because she doesn't understand why I said that i love my SC more than any girl on this whole planet:p I think she might dump me tomorow,or so I heard, and guess what she said....." All because of that stupid thunderbird car" " He'd rather spent time on the car than with me" I DO:D Well, I guess Im an azz, but at this time in my life I'd rather be alone:rolleyes:
Thanks to all the people that has helped me on this and for showing support; I REALLY THANK YOU:)
Dude.. You got to get a grip.. You can get a new car man! Don't let it take over your life. The creeps that took it, let the cops deal with it. Otherwise you could end up in jail or even worse. As for your girl, talk to her and forget about the car for now.

hey superloop, i am very sorry about your car man, those bastards did a hell of a job on it, does it still have the engine and trans? if it did it could still be redone, or is it just me? it would be quite an undertaking to get it back to the way it was but, i would attempt it, i am a die hard when it comes to things like that, i don't know about any of the other guys around here but it is possible, imo, it won't be easy but it depends on your determination and willpower, and if you want to invest time and money into it, and how emotionaly attached to it you are, if it were me and that happened to my car i would attempt it, it would be another project in a long list of projects, but it would be done sooner or later, you can rebuild, better, faster, stronger, but it is entirely up to you, hopefully you will get justice, man...later's...

D@mn. They jacked everything. lol. How long did they have it. I couldnt imagine it would be that bad. The only thing i see worth anything is the bumper. lol. As long as its not cracked. If you have a chance to get it sell it. Im lookin for one. Its terrible that people can do this to others. I hate shady mothers. Why do they need to mess with good hardworkin people. Just scamin and stealin from others for a living b/c they dont have anything else to live for. Good luck on finding a new replacement. lol. THink thats far to much work to fix. Hope you have some better luck to come. Zach

Next time you want to leave your car running, buy an alarm with remote start. That way if someone breaks into it they still can't steal it out from under your nose.

Looks pretty bad. Looks like they cut a bunch of wiring the bastards. Gotta get another and use this one for parts. Don't get sentimental because it'll cost you way too much to rebuild, but that's up to you man. Good luck.

Thanks Billabong for posting the pics:D They suck, but I was in a hurry (I was supposed to be working:D )
The long block is there, the tranny is there; that's about it:mad:
I've decided to look for another SC and rebuild this long block and tranny to put on the SC that I get; that way I can drive an SC till I get the motor and tranny ready to install. They had the car for three weeks; bastards!!!! Oh yeah, I know that some, if not all of the parts went to a RED Thunderbird; no, the detective didn't tell me that, let's just say, I'm a good investigator:D
I'm gonna have to get me a bazooka and shoot that t-bird:D
Well, thanks to all for helping and I will let you all know when I get an SC. Hopefully by then I will be able to post pics:rolleyes: I have to learn!!!!
Thanks again:)

Wow! My mouth is wide open and jaw on the floor!
Really sorry Superloop! Think you have a good plan, just get another and use yours for parts, or find one that has a blown engine and take parts off it for yours. Either way you will be back on the road. Best leave the car thieves to the authorities, as I hear Texas doesn't let people get away with stuff. You should goto their court hearing and talk to the prosecutor and DEMAND RESTITUTION which will HAVE TO be paid to you no matter how long it takes and they can't bankrupt on that. Keep your cool no matter what, and know that they WILL pay you back no matter how long it takes and that is the best revenge IMO.
That is just a d**m shame man!

take everyones advice and stay away from them. if they are nuts enough to steal you car there is no telling what they could do to you or your family if they are backed into a corner. car is not worth your safety or your families safety.
will be glad to offer any and all help that i can offer beings that i live in pa.
i do have a nice 91sc 5sp black exterior/black leather interior with 10700 original miles on it that i am selling. asking 10500 obo. if you are interested. you can check out some pics on the members page.
again sorry about your car and just move on and let the coppers handle the punishment

I'll try to miss urs sc ul8r1990:D
Yeah, I don't think I'm gonna do anything stupid about it, I'm gonna wait and let the Texas cops do it:D You know we say..."DON"T MESS WITH TEXAS"
Danekejt, that sounds like a good offer, for a car that only has 10000 miles I'll let you know what's up.
I don't have any family here so I'm not worried about them; The thieves will have to travel a looooooooong ways to get to them;)
I was thinking on trying to fix it back, but there's a gazillion wires under the dash and the trunk and the engine compartment, some are cut; I don't even think that Ford Engineers could put it back together:D

isn't it true, like if you owe someone money for like child support or something and they can't afford it, they go to jail and you earn a certain amount of money each day you spend in jail, and then that gets paid to the person its owed?

Well, I guess I'm gonna try to put my baby back together; I know it will be a hard and time consuming project, but I believe I can bring her back to life;) Now I'll just need some parts, this goes out to all of you who offered:D I'll make a list and whoever has them ,I'll buy them. Thanks
For what I can see, or for now I need back seat(just bottom), front seats, carpet, doors, hood, trunk lid, supercharger(I mean all that goes with the sc, tubes, ic; everything) brake lights, cluster.
Ok, I know there's more, but I'll keep posting to let you all know.
Oh yeah, where is the computer on this car? I've looked for it and couldn't find it, but I just wanna make sure I looked in the right spot; just to make sure I don't need that:cool:
Thanks and let me know

Good news!!!! I guess.
I called the detective and he said they caught the person who stripped my car and it looks like he has a car similar to mine(he didn't know if it was an SC or not) and I asked him If could go look at the car and get my parts back, but he said they don't have the car, but they're gonna look for it and when they found it I could get whatever mine doesn't have. I hope they find the car, I really do:D I've got faith:)

Yes that will happen to you in my state for not paying your child support. I dont think it applies if you just owe someone money though. Does not matter either if the woman runs off with the child for many years hiding from you either.
I know a couple of guy's that served alot of time because they could not locate there wifes and children even after hiring private dicks or talking to there inlaws in order to send money for there children. Very dirty system actually.

Well, I have been working on my SC since 5:30 and I quit for tonight. I'm taking the motor out and it doesn't look good at all; the damn oil pan it's completely broken:confused: WHAT THE HELL???????? The motor mounts are shot; the pan wasn't hitting the frame before it was stolen; i guess they ran the hell out of it and after it dumped all the oil when the pan broke, they took it apart. I found something in the car that will help alot on knowing for sure who stole it; Dumbazz put regular gas in it at a texaco and he bought smokes and he showed ID and I found the receipt hehehe; bastard:D I will be giving the receipt to the detective tomorrow( he was born 02/17/1981) and he put gas in it the 14th of last month.
I guess I better go to bed; see ya'll later:cool:

This guy is a real winner. There's no way to figure out the stupid. He must have tried awfully hard to trash your engine before he decided to strip it. Sounds like it was a little bit of personal jealousy with this guy. If he was looking for a big payday he would not have trashed the engine. I hope everything works out for the best, but I have a feeling redemption day is coming. Good luck man.

I would imagine you have insurence? Dont they pay you blue book value for your car if its stolen? Im not sure how your workin it out but getting the car back may not give you any money unless its "junked" and totally striped(which it looked like to me). I would think they would pay you enough to get another one, maybe not as nice of an annaversary, but something decent and have this as a doner. Im not sure what you have done to this car to keep it in good workin order but not all sc's are in as good shape and it wont necissarly be the same, but it may be better than not having a sc. Good luck on putting that back together. I have lower pullys if you want them and will have some exaust manifolds soon but dont think they gutted those. Again good luck. Zach
