I have to rethread one of the threads on top of the supercharger for the SC Top. Im getting ready to retap it but before i do.....is there anything i need to watch out for? I know that the supercharger is delicate aluminum......should i use some kind of tapping lubricant/fluid? even though im retapping it by hand? (no power tools).
any techniques that will help me get a better thread? My dad mentioned something about going around one turn and then coming out.....going back in one turn......coming back out??
just looking for pointers i dont want to **** this thing up.
thanks

Your dad is right, in a little out a little to bring the shavings up to the surface. Use cutting oil so you get a clean cut. Make sure your using the right tap (metric) and keep a vacuum on hand to frequently clean up any shavings so they don't fall you know where.

good call crazy freddie....i used a piece of plastic and my shop vac, worked great. tapping it was really easy, little tiny bit of multi purpose oil and voila. The thread insert went in great also. I just have to wait for the silicone gasket sealer to dry before i start her up. I havent started her since i put her away for the winter. Will i notice anything from the new 3/4" top?
i may take it for a spin down the road later, the roads look dry and clean lately. :D  :)
