Could you adapt the kit fitted to the Focus? The one made by Jackson?

"Steel rods and pullys welded onto cams" - that's a great idea! Eliminate the need for those pesky belts! Although I think you'd be better off using sticky-backed velcro in place of the bondo and epoxy, so you can easily remove the S/C when necessary.
