I want to say Chrysler's Six Pack.
Six Pack set up would make sense, but I don't think anything was limited back then.;) Also, the question stated it was a throttle body indicating fuel injection, at least in my mind.
no wait cuz there was some 83 vettes
It's my understanding that the 84's were supposed to be out in 83' but had to be delayed until 84' and they had already stopped production on the previous(82') models. I will check a Corvette site to verify this because there is so much riding on it. NOTHING!:D

1983 Corvette
Officially, There were no 1983 Corvettes. There were forty seven 1983 Corvettes made but none were ever sold. The National Corvette Museum has the only 1983 known at this time. The new Corvette plant in Bowling Green, KY closed in October of 1982 to begin retooling for the 1984 Corvette. Production began in January of 1983 and the press received their first view of the 1984 Corvette in January of 1983. In February, the first production 1984 Corvettes were sold to the public. In March of 1983, the 1984 Corvette officially went on sale in the United States, except for California and a month later, in April, the 1984 Corvette went on sale in California. By October of 1983, the plant was in full speed production
This was from the Idaho Corvette page so you know it's correct.

Since we're on vette trivia:
1) What was the last year of the Big Block 454 in a production vette?
2) What were the original interior/exterior colors of the first vette?
3) What is a major cosmetic significance on the C6 that hasn't been featured on a vette since the original?
Last 454 BB I think it was 1970

1) What was the last year of the Big Block 454 in a production vette?
I'm guessing 1971, due to emission standards.
2) What were the original interior/exterior colors of the first vette?
It seems like I've only seen white exteriors. Interior I'll say black. If they offered more than one combination I'll say they also offered a red interior/white interior.
3) What is a major cosmetic significance on the C6 that hasn't been featured on a vette since the original?
I think I've only seen one picture of the C6 and the only thing I remembered was that I thought it didn't look much different from the current ones. Wild guess, something with the tail lights.

1) The last year of the 454 was 1974. I know this because my father had one from 85-95, and that was all he talked about.
2) The original colors were polo white exterior with red interior.
3) The C6 has exposed headlamps, which hasn't been a feature of the car since the original style.

Dangit! I did hear that about the new vettes. Some vette people are getting their panties in a bunch over it. My memory is starting to go.:(
BTW it was the ZR1 that had the valet feature, there was a key on the console that would lock out the big butterfly.

Yes the zr1 has the "valet key" . However it has something to do with only letting so many out of multiple fuel injectors open up or something like that.

I stand corrected.(Actually I'm sitting)
QUESTION: What is that keyhole below the radio for?
ANS: This key is known as the "power key" or "valet" key as it's referred to sometimes. In the off position the ZR-1 only puts out about 1/2 the hp by disabling the second set of fuel injectors, valves and what could be described as your secondaries from coming on. A sort of safety feature that GM felt was necessary when you have drivers who are unfamiliar with driving automobiles with that much HP.
