Like Rick suggested in a previous thread, this would be great time to have a meet, decent weather, etc................FFW at Houston Raceway Park. The dates are April 30 - May 2, 2004.

We just need a HOST in Houston!!! Maybe a late night BBQ.....shoot'n squirrels....just anything out of the ordinary...etc. etc...

I would like to run my SC at the track, I just got that, I need to know what Lil Red will do...feeling~

Any interested?

Thanks Calvin for starting a new thread for this topic as I should've done.

Calvin, what kind of track do u wanna run on? Straight or oval?

It's POSSIBLE I could host. It's something I've thought about. I would just need to have an idea how many people and of course check with the ADMIRAL, before I can say for sure.

Here's some other possible activities:

Houston Raceway Park - about 45 minutes from my house

Fun Run to Galveston - 20 miles

Dog Track - 20 minutes

Go cart racing - 20 minutes

Every Friday evening, there's a park about 7 miles away that has an informal car show, they have hot rod's(old school), a few classics, and then the usual Vettes, Fartbirds, Stangs and other miscellaneous cars, totally free, playground right by the cars and now even a restaurant.

HOWEVER, I have no garage full of used SC parts or SC parts cars in my driveway

Would love to be there, but I am in CA and UT that weekend.

I encourage all of you SC and otherwise owners living in other cities to meet up with the Houston Crew as they "know" the SC, and are just good folks!!!

Calvin and crew, you guys would like the SHO owners putting on the April 17 Fun Run out of Austin. If you can't make that then hope you can come up in June. I really wish I could make H-town but duty calls in CA. Namely the boss.

Don't think I will be able to host it. I just had to bury Scratchy this morning. He got hit by a car. Maybe by late April or early-mid May.

HI! Just purchased a 93 twilight blue SC that I am restoring. I live out in the Humble area and not too far from the track. Would like to join the meeting if possible. My car will eventually need to be repainted, so if you can suggest anyone out here would sincerely 'preciate it.

Hey guys I've been busy with SC's over here. But the good thing is that I've been able to tell the newbies about this coming meet and they have expressed interest in coming. I mentioned it to Ken a day or two ago and I see he's jumped aboard. There's also this guy named David who lives just up the road from my shop, he's got an '90 anny car and lives with his aunt who's got a sweet red '91. He said he would like to go, don't know about his aunt. Also I just got through with a tranny rebuild on Neville K's. car whose had a lot of work done in the last month. He's over in Kingwood and has got a red '94 like my new one except it's an auto. He also was positive about making the meet. I did some work on a Twilight Blue '91 for a young lady named Nancy who lives really close to me but was unable to talk to her about the meet since her father took delivery of the car. I've still got to get back with her when I find a DIS harness for her car so maybe soon.

So that's:
Me, Vernon
Celia
David
Neville
and Maybe Nancy

We need to contact Steve Ruhl as he's always interested in making meets. And has anyone mentioned this to Wynn and Sam?

Oh and welcome aboard Falstaffman! On paint I've noticed over the years that the dealer is hard to beat. It's one of those times where you get what you pay for. Independants are always to concerned about low bidding you then doing everything they can to make a profit on it by cutting corners. The independents usually do things wrong like paint the trim the body color, especially in the front bumper slit. Then when you try to explain this or get it fixed they get all worked up over it. The dealer usually has to meet Ford OEM quality and appearance standards and you have more leeway in getting satisfaction because there are many more steps to the ladder above the guy who runs the shop.

Hi Vernon,
Thanks for the advice. We are new to the Houston area so have had some trouble finding a reputable paint & body shop. I'd rather pay a little more and have it done right rather than taking to Earl Scheib for the $39.95 special.

I tend to agree with Vernon on the paint. I had mine re-painted a couple of yrs ago due to clear coat failure. I ended up going with a independent shop and got a decent job. I only had the exterior painted, no door jambs, etc. I checked around and received positive feedback and saw some of the work they had done on other cars. I also kept close tabs on them while they had my car. I am by no means an expert on this subject. Just relaying my experience. I live well on the other side of town from you so I don't know of shops in your local area. I did check with a couple of dealers. One dealer only did repair type painting, not whole car paint jobs and the other was just too cost prohibitive. Even if the dealer doesn't do on-site work, they may recommend a shop that they use.

Onequicksc knows a lot about this paint and frequently answers questions on the topic.

When my wife's Mustang needed it we shopped. 2 shops would have done it right. Removing bumper covers, wing, & etc, Etc. Then Maaco was low enough that I could get 5 paint jobs for the price of the other's bid. Since she had 2 wrecks in that car I went cheap. Besides it's a Mustang.:D

Thanks for the input! I did get a recommendation on a local shop that does good work and will probably take it there.

Sounds great. Let us know as soon as you can so those that need to make plans can make them as soon as possible.

Side note, Welcome aboard Falstaffman!

Thanks, Calvin. I look forward to meeting with you to get some hints on restoring my 93 SC. It needs a new coat of paint, got a couple of rattles, and maybe a rebuild on the transmission but otherwise looks and runs great.

There was a buzz about some guys going to the FFW #3 at Houston Raceway Park? April 30-May 2

I was wondering the same thing, I may be able to make it, in mid-may timeframe....no sooner than that, at this point. I know FFW will be a blast like it was a few years ago......ahhhh.....remember watching Wynn run the ¼ mile at HRP.
