View Full Version : Interest for GP for BHJ Balancers?
Would anyone be interested in a GP for BHJ Balancers for 89-93 and 94-95 Supercoupes?
Lets see how much interest we can gather and I will e-mail a few places to see what kind of price we can get.
I would think we would need at ten buys to get some sort of price.
So far the list is:
Flip 93 sc
Jason 90 sc / Maybe
Thunderbirdsc
Steve 90sc
Richard 95sc
Thats 5 anybody else?
I will e-mail around for cost.
Thanks,

Thanks,

Guy’s
Had a phone conversation with Paul with Blue Tougue Motorsports and got a verbal price of:
$295 for 89-93 SC
$320 for 94-95 SC
Plus shipping.
For 5 or more ordered
He also is working on a proper length bolt for use with the SC, instead of the Mustang bolt, which I guess, is a little shorter. He was traveling the next few days and was going to confirm the pricing with e-mail, but told me to post the pricing. Any feed back? Seems like a fair price to me.

Flip-You can count me in for a 89-93 model.
Does this come with the new bolt?
Jason--in case you are going to get one we can maybe save some shipping if we put them together.
Eric
Eric,
No, This price does not include the new bolt.
I'll add you to the list

Gentlemen, please take this post as your written confirmation of the posted pricing. You may make your payment via Paypal to PaypalOrders@BlueTongueMotorsports.com or I accept certified check or money order. Shipping will be fixed at $10.25 anywhere in the continental US. If you are ordering from Canada, please contact me with your address so I may quote shipping costs. As added incentive, I will pick up the shipping cost for the first 3 buyers up to $10.25. As soon as 5 people pay, I will begin shipping the following business day.
For those who are interested, I have billet aluminum stock and underdrive size crank pulleys and 3 piece pulley sets available as well. These are nuetral balanced pulleys which can be bolted on without any other changes. Please contact me privately for details. Participants of this group purchase will receive special introductory pricing on these pulley kits.

Joe was the first to pony up!
One thing I forgot to address in my previous post is the crank bolt. As some of you may recall, there was talk about this in a previous group buy. I have not been sucessful in bringing one to market yet due to price, but I have not given up on it. I have sent drawings to another manufacturer for a quote and will keep everyone posted as I receive details.

Ok, Paul, Flip, forgive me for the stupid question here in advance!! I have read the horror stories about these factory HBs slinging off, I'm up for this purchase, in fact I've got paypal up and ready to hit send, (now for the stupid question) What do we use for a bolt if you haven't been able to provide one and the "Mustang one" is too short?? I'm being lazy this morning, and don't have time to search and read 10 million post about the topic..
RJ
RJ,
I believe that most do use the Mustang bolt, I’m not sure. I am buying this a one part of many that I want to change out on the front of the SC. Good question, does anybody else know?
Paul,
What have you sold in the past?

With regard to kamakazie_1 question of the bolt. The mustang bolt will do the job however it is not correct for our application. For the moment, the mustang bolt is your only option and has worked well for many to date. I can supply these for you or you may get one at your local Ford dealer. On my personal SC, I use a custom length grade 10.9 (same grade as the stock and mustang bolt) bolt but do not offer these to the public due to cost. If you absolutely want one, they are $30 each and include the proper hardened washer. That is the best I or anyone can offer until I receive my quote from the latest source I have contacted. For the record, the bolt I am looking towards having produced will be made from ChromeMoly and have a higher tensile strength than the stock piece by about 25,000psi.
Paul
P.S. Things are looking good, 4 have paid already so far, as soon as the 5th payment comes in, I will start shipping these out.

Ok Paul, good enough, if you had 4 paid you should now have 5, I don't want to be the one to hold anyone up... Crap I didn't put on there Paul, it's for my 95..
Does anyone know the application for the bolt and washer, (Year, engine, so on) or a part number. If I go to my local dealer that would be good info to have :D.. Keeps them from looking at me stupid you know..

Ok guys, shipping on the BHJ's will begin tomorrow now that the 5 order min. has been met. I have been receiving a ton of email inquiring about the pulleys I have available so I have decided to post the details below.
I have billet aluminum stock size pulleys to replace the crank, water pump and alternator which have already been produced and are awaiting hard anodizing. These same pulleys will also be available in underdrive size as well in the upcoming few weeks. Tooling has began to make the underdrive pulleys as of last Friday and they are expected to be complete in about 2 weeks. Due to the tremendous layout of material costs, I probably will not be sending any of the pulleys out for anodizing until after this group purchase is complete unless at least a total of 5 crank pulleys (or sets mixed doesn't matter) are purchased. Details are as follows:
Billet aluminum stock size neutral balanced crank pulley hard anodized clear $160.00 each with fixed shipping in the continental US of $10.50. This piece is available with an 8th rib cut in the jackshaft side to allow easy incorporation into the ESM 8/10 rib jackshaft pulley system.
Billet aluminum stock size neutral balanced crank, water pump and alternator pulley hard anodized clear $255.00 per set with fixed shipping in the continental US of $14.75
Billet aluminum underdrive pulley set with neutral balanced crank pulley hard anodized clear price TBA (will have pricing by or before Monday)
I need at least 5 orders for these pulleys to honor the pricing listed above. Mix and match is fine so long as 5 crank pulleys in total are ordered. Again, please note the stock size pulleys have not been hard anodized yet and will not be going out for anodizing until 5 orders are received. At the present time, I have been quoted 9 business days from the time the anodizing place receives them till the time they ship them out.

Everything I ship to a physical address is insured. PO box shipments are not however unless you request and purchase it since there is a higher charge and I must ship via USPS. If you want to change your shipping address to a physical address or pay for insurance, please contact me via email. The shipping prices I quoted above were via FedEx or USPS for Canada deliveries.

OK for my BHJ balancers I need the early style and I live at 3076 Lindenlea Dr. Mississauga Ontario L5C-2C2 and I have an account with UPS unless you know a better way? Now for the stock pullies you are talking about can I have them anidized red if I decide to go with them?

Quick question about the crank pulley. In the BTM website tehre is a set of UD pullies by ASP for $170 I believe and that has the crank pulley and water and alternator. Whats teh difference between the aluminum crank pulley from the ASP set to the one taht you are offering now? I see that in the one you are offering now it has the 8 rib jackshaft thing...is that It? Im contemplating the idea getting a bhj for my bird now that imma do the rebuild...and this price seems great...but sheesh, it depends on my left over $.

Sorry for leaving you hanging Greg, I got a little swamped and havent been able to catch up with this thread. I ship via USPS since it is cheaper for you guys and suggest you go this route. Cost is $18.50.
Now for the stock pullies you are talking about can I have them anidized red if I decide to go with them?
These are only available in clear at this time. To offer colors, the price would be very prohibitive. If you want, I can send them to you in raw state and you can have them anodized locally. Let me know.

The ASP set is a 8 and 7 rib pulley from ASP directly. To have the extra groove cut in it for the 8th rib on the jackshaft side is very costly. The pulley set I am offering now can have that option at no cost during the buy. Their pulley is also black, mine is done in clear hard anodize. Weight will be quite similiar. Please keep in mind this group purchase ends Friday when making your decision.

Gentlemen, I just got off the phone with BHJ and everyone's order has shipped. I was then informed of some very pertinent information which all should know. Effective today 3/15/04, BHJ has raised their prices on every product they carry by 5%! This does not effect anyone who has already made a purchase through this group buy, however, it will effect future purchasers. If you have been contemplating being a part of this buy, I suggest you do it now as the pricing will never be this low again. I will honor the group purchase price until Friday as advertised or until stock runs out, whichever comes first. I am not looking to push more sales and we have already met the GP minimum, I am sharing this information in the interest of the community.

Alyn, you can use the stock bolt, just be sure to check the threads in the crank and make sure the bolt goes in smoothly.
RJ, you are going to love this one and so will your old lady! It is very inexpensive, looks nice and may even make you go faster. I will have details up Sat or Sun. There will be a 5 person minimum, and a 10 and 15+ person discount tiers as well. Cost is so low that I will only put the buy up for a week. It will run alongside a 2 week pulley buy as well.

Paul, where's our suprise?? I know the board was down over the weekend but I'm still waiting to see what it was...
I found this BHJ install info on the FAQ area for whoever need it.
http://www.sccoa.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=18410
Also found this during a search:
Ford part numbers for the Mustang bolt and washer are:
Crank bolt F58Z-6A340-A
Crank bolt washer E2DZ-6378-A
I will try to confirm that these are correct.
I havn't received anything in the mail yet: BHJ, Pulley set, or Wazee pulleys.
The part numbers are correct, they are in the Dr. Fred Instructions. :)

Greg, follow the instructions from BHJ, they have to be an interference fit. I am sending you an urgent email about your order, please reply ASAP.
kamakazie_1, the info Flip posted is correct. They are nuetral balanced from the factory DO NOT attempt to rebalance only hone if needed. I hadnt gotten the group buys posted with all the up and down of the board, I will have everything posted tonight though.
Flip, you will most likely be one of the last to get the balancer since you are the furthest from NorCal.
