I just got done installing my new cat back exhaust system! I ended up picking up Mike's nearly new Flowmaster Force II system, and couldint wait to get my manifolds ported or downtubes made so I slapped it on with my stock manifolds and downtubes with cats I know it's not helping too much with thoes on there but I wanted to see what it sounded like and wanted to get it out of my living room! That was one of my first large mods, once I get the rest of the exhaust done I will finally do some small mods that will be on the intake side as well as a pulley.
I just wanted to tell someone about my new mod!

P.S. Thanks Mike!;)

Greg, you like how it sounds at the moment?

Probably sounds just like mine Greg... That's the same thing I did, I've got the down tubes just haven't put them on yet...

Congrats Greg! That is the exact same setup I have on mine. Ported exhaust manifolds, 2 1/4" catless down tubes, and Flowmaster Force II catback. I think it sounds awesome! Not too loud when driving normally but get on it and it does get loud. Now all I need is larger MAF, TB, raised SC outlet, polished/ported heads... It never ends:D

P.S. Richard when are we going to finish that system? I have the die grinder and torch ready!

Thanks guys,
At first I didin't think I'd like the sound but that was just while reving it a bit, then once I got it on the road I thought it was a bit loud, but then I fel in love with it all within a few bursts of acceleration! I think it's a good sounding system I have the same thoughts as you about it bryan, I went down to Harrison's automotive shop and asked what it would cost for some down tubes to be made up and he got it up on the lift and quoted me $275.00 - $300.00!!! I guess I'll be getting some from tbird88 when I get some cash. and no one else would even give me a quote because I wanted to bypass the cats. The thought of bending my own has come to my mind I have a hydraulic pipe bender and just need to practice my thin metal welding and I'll be set, even if i screw up a few peices of pipe I'll still be comming out cheaper than buying some.;)
Now I can finally start thinking of doing thoes mods, this is what has been holding me back!

Soon I hope Bryan, I wanted to get the motor mounts in the thing too... I'm still waiting on my wheels and I bought a set of Eibachs and tokicos from a kid on here, as soon as all that gets in I'll have a bunch to work on..

It's not to hard to make your own down tubes really. If you gut the cats out and with minor mods to some 90 degree elbows you can run some piping right back to the resonator.
I just finished making my own exhaust setup. The only part I bought pre made was where it went around the gastank and then use my orignal piping there and with a little shorting on one they both tucked right in there so I got 2 1/4 all the way out. took me a day to do the whole system. I using two thrush glasspacks for resonators and stock rear mufflers and I like the sound. quiet when you crusing but has a nice sound under hard accel. I can hear my supercharger now.

The thought of creating my own system came to thought as well, but I was afraid to create a sound which I didint like and waste money experimenting with diffrent mufflers/resonators. And at the time the price Mike offerd me was right so I jumped on it. I'm definately going to create my own downtubes, there isin't too much to them and if I follow the stock curves it'll be pretty easy. I definately noticed an increase in supercharger sound, it blends perfect with the tone of my exhaust and sounds pretty sweet, now I just need to figure out where that exhaust rattle is comming from, my guess is where the small crossmember goes under the exhaust.

Mine ratteled there to. I put a small weld there to stop it.
I'm sure down tubes wouldn't be to much of a prob for you it sounds like. Have fun with it.

Good Idea with the small tack weld on that crossmember, I was trying to figure out what I could wedge between it to cushion it a bit but if it can't move, it can't rattle!

I left the one on mine off Greg, Bryan said once he put the down pipes on his it tucked up tighter and he's got plenty of room on his..

Yeah RJ,
I thought about just leaving it off as it seemed too thin to be of any structural gain for the car. The only thing I thought may be a problem with that is the sheet metal heat shield rattling from it not beieng there, but if you guys haven't had any problems with running it w/o it I will probably just scrap it! I may keep it around untill I get the down tubes made up to see if it makes a diffrence but if it doesn't then it's going in the scrap metal pile!
I haven't had any time to goof around with the downtubes as things have been going at warp speed around here, trying to get new subflooring layed, go to work full time, go to school full time, and somewhere in there have a 21st birthday!
We'll see what I can come up with....

Yea you could scrap it. I left mine in to help hold things up since I did away with the hangers at the tranny.

Well, when I get to doing the downtubes I'll rip it off. I'll see after I get the downtubes on if I still need it off or if the new downtubes will raise it up a bit to clear it.
I bet that true dual you are running with the early style gas tank is an intresting setup, I thought of going with the late style tank but didin't feel like dealing with it.

Greg... I was able to get mine to clear by loosening the bolts at the exhaust manifolds and all other clamps. Then take a floor jack and jack the exhaust system up as far as it could go at the resonator. When the system is jacked up, tighten all of the bolts and let the jack down. After this procedure, my system had about 1/2"-3/4" clearance at that bracket. Maybe this will work for you too.

That sounds logical as well, I'll have to try that too once I find some time to play with my SC. I was origonally thinking that maybe my hanger was streched out a bit but I think they looked pretty good when I was putting the new system in. I'll see when I get some time to do some work on my car.
