Hi, I am thinking of buying a 90 T-bird that has 126000 km's. I am a little hesitant at the moment because there are a few chips on it and also it has to run on premium gas. I am only 16 so it may be a problem. The guy is trying to sell it for 3900 Canadian. Does that sound about right? I live in Alberta, is it hard to find parts for these cars and how reliable are they? I hear they are expensive to fix. I have read up on some posts where people say how there bird still runs fine and it has 120000 kms to and its a 90. So im swaying back anf forth. Also, what like modification could I make to it to make it fancier:P. I was thinking of tinting the windows, giving new paint job, and some new rims. I have a limited amount of money though I can put into the car. About $2000 canadian. Can anyone give me some prices for house much the 3 things above would be? And also some like suggestions of colours, what kind of rims, how dark of tint or whatever. Ok thanks for whoever takes the time to read this and I hope that you can help me out.

Link doesnt work. But I assume you are talking about a super charged t-bird? I love these cars to death, but I wouldnt recommend one to you as a good first car. Sad to say it but you would porbably be better off in a honda. :( I just turnde 23 yesterday, and my supercoupe is the third vehicle I hav owned in my life time. I started ou with a 1980 chevy pick up, bought it for $500, a couple years sold it for 1500. Moved to a honda accord, lasted me a couple years, and like the chebby was cheap and easy to work on. An accident + insurance money put me in the supercoupe I had always wanted, and I am glad I had experience with a few other cars before getting one. If I had one when I was 16 I'm sure I would have drowned in maintence cost, and not to mention tickets!! :p Best of luck..

Hey,
I looked @ the car and it looks very nice!
I copied and pasted the ad here
3.8L V6 Supercharged, Automatic, All Options. Engine Was Rebuilt Years Ago. Car Is Mechanically Sound, Body & Interior Fair Shape. Car Is A Very Fast Highway Cruiser. 224,000 Kms.
Asking $3,995.00
First off, I got my first SC when I was 18. Im now 21. I dint have any problems with the car till I took it to a mechanic. I would suggest only buying this car if you have some basic knowledge of cars in general (Other than changing fluids, I didnt know anything). Secondly its says it has 224,000 Kms (Thats alot!) and that the engine was rebuit "Years ago". That sounds weird to me, so I would call about that, because he could be saying that it was rebuilt a long time ago, and all of the miles have added up since then. Thirdly:
3,995.00 CAD
Canada Dollars = 2,996.60 USD
United States Dollars
In my personal opinion, for a STOCK, AUTOMATIC, 90. Almost $3,000 seems pretty high, unless the engine WAS rebuilt and the other parts (Transmission, Supercharger, Electronics, Brakes, Etc.) were also redone/replaced. Just My Opinion :-) Id have a local SC guy take a look @ it for you. Just be prepared to have a stash of cash just for repairs on the SC and you may have to give up some weekends with your friends to work on it!
Now for $2,000:
Get a full SCP exhaust system. It will allow you to do further mods on your engine and prevent you from blowing the head gaskets from too much back pressure. $700 something.

Focus Cold Air Intake. About $175.00 on ebay.
Rims from Cudaz101 on this site: http://sccoa.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=37171
Paint depends on how good of a job you want......MAACO about $500.00 for a cheap job....$2000 for a good job.
Thats a good start:D Hope I could help. Good luck on your decision.

I think that $3900 is a very good price. I am in Calgary and I just bought my SC last fall for $5700. I know of one right now that selling for $10,500 it is a 35th year car. I see them around here all the time for $6000-$9000. They do cost lots of money to fix but they are head turners. I chose it to be different than all the import stuff and all the Mustangs around. I have been able to find all the parts I need around here to beef up the car so far. A great mod is to do the exhaust. I had a full exhaust done with all magnaflow stuff and chrome tips for $900. It was a different car after that. I have had many people comment on the car even young guys like you. I had one guy say damn I want that car. So, all this said I LOVE my SC. Yes it is expensive and YES they are frustrating at times but what car isn't.
PS I have never lost a race and I have run against turbo Talons, V8 Dodges, MR2's, etc...

Dont buy it.You will find the maintenance costs to be very high and with your inexperience driving, you will kill yourself if you have to drive that thing in the winter. As soon as the roads get slippery tha *** end of an sc tends to go sideways if youre not extremely carefull. As a winter vehicle I found my sc to be the worst rwd vehicle that ive ever driven in the winter(that was running four blizzaks and with weight in the trunk)
