View Full Version : Increased Speed Limit in AZ!!!

Hey all, in case you didn't see, the Arizona Senate has decided that the speed limit on parts of I-10 (and possibly other areas) should be raised from 75 to 80 mph :-) Maybe that would have kept me from getting my 85 in a 75 mph zone ticket?? The article that I read online was very biased against the speed limit increase and identify two elderly folk (70+ and 80+ y/olds, one of which was a snowbird) as being very against the speed limit increase. Personally I think it would be nice if they raised the speed limit to 85 and then actually required real drivers license testing as well as a more substantial physical and vehicle inspections .... anywho... now my trip from Sierra Vista to Phoenix should be a whopping 8 minutes faster?? <g>

Sierra Vista... I remember that place. A little post called Fort Huachuca. I spent a couple years there. I would have stayed there longer to if I hadn't gotten that little perscom that stated South Korea, Republic of...What they need to do is make that highway from Sierra Vista to I-10 4-lane...Or is that done now?

I don't see why you are so happy, its not like you will ever get to drive your SC again to enjoy the higher speed limit

Uh-huh... so aside from the TCCOA GP lowering springs which seemed to have dropped off the face of the earth (and are not needed to complete my engine rebuild) .... think I'm still waiting for some stuff via FedEx... :-P

Well, Fedex has no idea where your package is or Val's. I put a trace on them so Ill know something by Monday or Tues and we can go from there.:(

Waiting for my springs also. I talked to Gordon, I guess they should have been shipped out via ground already, so keep your eyes peeled for the big brown truck.

The max speed limit here in NY is 65 and thats only on a few major highways. With todays technology vehicles can be operated at higher speeds very safely, yet they still cripple us with the 55mph speed limit and 65mph one.

The road they are takling about making into an 80 is the road I got busted on 2 months ago for doing "86 in a 75" but that the officer wrote at "85 in a 75"

Heck they don't need to raise the speed limit. Look at all that beautiful scenery that will be blurred when you're speeding along. :D Is Sierra Vista still out in the middle of no man's land or has civilization made it that far out? Its been about 10 years since my wife and I went speeding through there on one hot July weekend. OOPS did I say speeding, I meant to say leisurely driving through the desert.
Good luck with raising the speed limit.

Sierra Vista is still out in the stix... although housing costs are going through the roof... figure on around $200,000 for a new build 1600-1700 sq ft on a postage stamp lot... we do have walmart and a mall now :-)
