I'm going to the track tonight with the freshly built SC. I hope to turn some descent times. Maybe low 9's. Just a 1/8th mile track. Just wonder what I should expect. I got the mods I done in my sig below. The next thing would be a rasied top then on to a bigger MAF and TB.

Good luck Trick, I really haven't a clue about 1/8th mile numbers, I'm too used to seeing guys run the quarter here.
Tear it up though! (uhh...the track, not the car). :)

Which track do you go to...?

I ride over to lakeland speedway. It's only about 10 mins from my house. Little 1/8th mile track.
I just got back and ran a best of 9.913 @ 73 mph. Not to bad I guess for spining off the line everytime. I let the tires down to 30 lbs and it hooked better and ran the 9.9.
Also I take back my statement about a raised top bigger MAF Etc. I need some lower gears big time. I ran down the whole track basicly in first gear and shifted to second for about 2 secs and that was it. I knew it had a high gear, but dam thats high.

what does a 9.9 in the 1/8th = in the 1/4? 14s?

I'm not trying to be smart, but for drag racing 30 lbs is considered high. It's generally thought that street tires can be safely dropped to 20 lbs. Of course that's not a real desirable pressure for the ride home.
What do you other racers run for tire pressure? Jeremy?
Jake, you have Nittos right? Do you need to drop the pressure with those or are they designed to hook up at street pressure?

I went down to 25 and that was the best for me....I went to 20 and had worse traction...

Yeah, 20 is really high for drag tires. I had my stock tires on the SC. I don't have any drag slicks small enough to fit it. My goodyear 33" tall by 20" wide slicks won't fit I don't believe :) I have a friend with some 4:10 gears that will fit in the rear end but isn't that a little low? I don't take long trips very often, mostly in town driving so I won't be running about 55-60 to often.
I run only 5psi in those slicks with bolts holding the bead on.

4:10s suck, I hate them...
I run 13lbs in my BFGoodrich drag radials.

I dont like them in my car and I really want to get some 3:73s and even considering 3:55s with gas prices the way they are....
was talking to dave neibert a while back and he and chris wise swapped there 4:10s and 3:73s and didnt experience much gains/losses with them
heres the post..

Thanks for the link. Info helped alot. I can get the gears free but I think I might just save my time and go to working on my Pontiac T/A. My wife drives the SC alot so I don't want to go modding it to where it's a gas eater.
I'm working on a stroker motor and looking at a turbo or superchager to go in mt T/A. Looking for high 9's low 10's.
