coolant question

Monday morning Im going to take my radiator to the shop and have it cleaned out. Since im going to remove the radiator I might as well flush the out the cooling system. I live in an apartment complex so I dont have a water hose to use. I thoughts are to flush the coolant at work the night before and just fill it up with water to drive home with. I only live about 2 miles from work. I was wondering if it would be alright to have just water in it for the ride home? Since im just going to drain it all the next morning anyway. Would this be alright?

For a short use like that you'l be OK I expect. Just don't leave the water in there too long or you'll be amazed at just how quickly corrosion can develop.

About the only potential operational problem that I see is related to the coolant boiling point and fan operation. At 15psi a 50/50 mix will not boil until 265degF, but water-only begins to boil down around 230 which is uncomfortably close to the no-A/C fan turn-on point.
