boxing in air filter?

hey guys i currently have a nice big air filter but not in the fendermound or anything i was thinking of boxing it in so it sucks air from the fendermount and not the hot engine air circulating around

It can be done, I have done it to mine. I got a different overflow bottle and relocated it to have more room. You don't have to move the bottle though, my original set up was made around it. It isn't the easiest thing to do around the factory rubber tube. I'll look to see if I got any pics of the first set up and post them. My suggestion to you is to get a larger mass air housing to get more air in, and then build the box. The easiest thing to do would be to build a heat shield between the filter and the engine because of the rubber intake tube.
