Vibration/shuddering problem under acceleration

Hey guys..

On the '89 SC 5-speed I just bought, I noticed a problem where the car has a very strong vibration or shuddering when accelerating, mostly noticeable at higher speeds like 50+ MPH. The vibration gets worse with more throttle, and at WOT it's enough to make interior pieces rattle.. However, if I let off the gas and coast, it's smooth as butter.

The weird thing (to me at least) is that the car doesn't always do this. But most of the time it does.

Any ideas?

Some of the guys who've had these cars longer than I can probably say something more definitive. I'd suggest a broken motor mount or a slipped harmonic balancer.

Sounds Like A Possible U-joint. If You Disengage The Clutch Or Put
It In Neutral And Rev The Engine And The Problem Does Not Duplicate Then It Has Nothing To Do With The Engine Or Anything Attatched To The Rotating Assembly. Your Problem Will Most Likely
Be Futher Down The Drivetrain. Good Luck.
