I found myself tied with 3 other guys for 2nd in points when I arrived at the track this morning. I overcame a minor starting problem but was ready to go for time trials at 1pm against a 2000 Mustang and ran a 13.257 against his 14.181. On my next TT I got to run one of the Sportsman guys with a Fox body Mustang with a centrifugal blowered something under the hood. He ran a 12.383 but I bogged it on the start and ran a 13.483 with a terrible 2.136 60'. We started eliminations at 5pm and I ended up against my old friend Mel in the big block Camaro. I dial a 13.19 and ran a 13.276 against his 13.703 on a 13.45 dial to get the win. We matched again in the next round and he takes this one with a 13.491(13.45) to my 13.312(13.16). I had dialed down due to a cooloff of the air temp but dialed back up for the next round after I bought back in. For the next round I come up against a 70's Maverick with a 302 dialed in at a 14.08 to my 13.20 dial. He red lights and runs a 14.276 to my 13.391 giving me the win. On what turns out to be my last run I dial up again to a 13.30 and my opponent is an 80's MonteCarlo dialed at a 13.35. In retrospect I should have dialed up again to make it even as the alternating yellow lights screwed my timing and I cut a .826 light and broke out with a 13.287 to his 13.358.
I tried my 76mm MAF body with the 73's sample tube and sensor and it appeared to have slowed me a tad so I'm going to swap the 73 back and reset the EEC again. I was a tenth quicker 2 weeks ago in warmer weather. I picked up 40 points for a total of 170.
NHRA Top Fuelers John Smith and Rhonda Hartman-Smith were there today, too, testing there Top Fuel dragsters on the 1/4 mi and gave us quite a show. They faced off at the end of the day and Rhonda beat John's 4.85 running a 4.62 at 320 mph. In the dark it was spectacular.
