ok, i screwed up. i was taking my hb off, and i stuck a screw driver through it to hold it still while i broke the bolt loose. i thought it caught a part of the timing cover. it was a sensor. it looks like a crank sensor. if i am right, it looks like a hall effect sensor. hall effect is the measurement of revolutions using a + and - magnetic field. am i right??? if so, it looks like i just broke the plastic casing. so will it work ok without the end covered??? i would replace it, but i have maxed out my 2k dollar project budget. so i really don't want to replace it if i don't have to.

You have to replace the crank sensor if you broke it. I would not chance it, because even if it does work......the question is how long?????
