View Full Version : Got my problem figured out!
After hours of being bit by mosquitos, checking every vac line, electrical connection, and fuel system I've got it down to the harmonic balancer. Ordered one from ford, they must be pretty proud of them cause they charged me 385.00 plus tax for it. I've done some searching and am still confused on how to set timing without the black plastic cover that fell off 2 years ago. Is there a key-way on it? Any tips on removal & installing would be great. Thanks !

Why didn't you just buy the BHJ steel balancer Jake, it wouldn't have been that much...

Yeah, I know RJ. I never buy the right part first, I like doing things twice I guess. I figured since I missed out on the group buy I would just get the ford unit. Did you put yours on yet?
On the bright side of things, half way down the track on my 14.0 run something felt wrong at the end. I think my HB broke during that run because my mph was so low, almost 2 mph slower. Right after that I ran it again and I ran a 14.6. I'm thinking that when it broke it started to retard timing giving me low mph so this fix could put me in the high 13's

Yep, put it on last weekend Jake, went on smoother than a baby's butt!! Probablly the only thing I've done on this beast that's been a breeze besides the lowering springs..

From what I understand Jake the HB install is supposed to be about mistake proof...Hey RJ don't the bolt holes only line up one way???
Rick  OW MY BACK HURTS!!

Uh, yes the HB goes on the keyway and the crank pulley will only go on one way, there is a slight offset to the holes, you just have to rotate it till all of them line up..
