View Full Version : Running fine one second; High idle the next

Driving the afternoon with everything running perfect on my 92 auto. Then at a light, the idle shoots up while in gear to 1100rpm. Wasn't sure what was happening due to the night before it stalled at the light with the boost gauge vacuum nipple popped off.
No problem there with just a lengthening of the line and back in business. Today was a whole different story. 2000rpm in park with a resonating humming noise that seems to orginate from the intake side/air filter housing. It runs fine once underway but only when coming to a stop; high idle and a humming sound. Filter seems ok(K&N drop-in). Could there be foreign matter in the intake? Could it be my torque converter?

Thanks to all!

It sounds like the Idle Air Control " IAC" mounted on the throtle body. check your computer codes to be sure so your not mad at me if you change it and I'm wrong.
